i remember last year being superb weather on the Saturday, and bobbins on the Sunday.

I also remember a certain Mr Phil Channon running the quiz on the Saturday night .

I had a cracking laugh that weekend, until i woke up at 5am Sunday morning hanging out of the boot of my car :(

i was just really really hammered, think i was drinking with Ben Riley, Paul Rotheram and a few others. I was going to sleep in Jamie Banks' caravan, but decided i didn't want to wake them up, so put the back seats down in my car, and fell asleep with my top half in the boot, and my legs on the mud. i was freezing when i woke up :(

The Factory Team Pub Quiz will be making a return this year, hosted again by Phil Channon.

The area between the trailer rostrum and the buildings HAS just been freshly tarmac'd so it is great for hard standing pitting. You could even run TC's on it if you were that way inclined.

We have track designs ready, the track will be smaller and tighter than previous years, but instead of being made to feel embarassed about our grass we are embracing it.. grass is good. grass is now different!. If anything it's retro!

Its going to be great :)

im gonna link my video again... get that grass in your nostrils!

here goes...

For god's sake don't do another one of them wanky corners with random stuff under astro, 'cos it's crap.

If the track improves as much this year as it did between '06 & '07 it should be very good.

Glad to hear the quiz will be back, it was ace last year.

Guy currently we dont have much track info for you we have a design for 2wd then a similar one for 4wd its no fun to show you drawings so we will keep you in suspense until friday night as for jumps and other features. Im pretty sure we wont have a wall of death sorry:p But hoping to have some good jumps dotted around the track. And as for size it is slightly bigger than kidderminster track.

A

Chris Doughty
24-04-2008, 04:31 PM
But hoping to have some good jumps dotted around the track.

I hope they are not just a few propped up boards scattered around the track.

it would be nice to see some features where it rewards the driver getting them right, such as landing on the downside.

don't place them too far away from the drivers stand, especially if its another trailer. if the track is Kiddy size viewing it from only 9 feet off the ground will make the far sections hard to see.

these are just my thoughts, not sure if anyone else thinks the same.

solution: don't use it :woot::lol:

It's easy to say don't use it, but to replace it with something thats going to last will cost at least £500, Coventrys yellow piping that was used for the F3,4,5's which is the right size cost nearly £700.

ben

Ben, have you ever priced up how much just one of your cars is worth? with all the leccy's. Your S4 must be worth a fair bit over that.

Lee
25-04-2008, 03:23 PM
It costs about £300 just to compete at a national so £700 for something that wll last 10 years + isn`t to bad.

Lee
25-04-2008, 04:10 PM
Last weekend

£90 for deisel (kiddy is one of the closer ones)
£75 for 5 sets of tyres for the weekend without wheels/inserts
£100 hotel
£100 food/drink etc

plus spares:cry:

So its £300 +

I dont mind though i have a laugh:thumbsup:

Super Dan Greenwood was in the B too, and Andy Carter, returning to racing after a long lay-off with the X - 6, was also in the B, for FIVE New Math in the top 20!

Proving again that the X - 5 remains the fastest car out there, Indoor Finals Champion Ellis Stafford won 4WD at Ozwestry to complete domination of the meeting!

Tom Cockerill also made The Show, Doing The Math for his new Team.

The Big E TQed one round of qualifying and took second in all the others to sit second on the grid. He took second in A - 1 and won A - 3 to take home the Ozfest crown for X Factory.

Incredible job E!!!

I'd like to echo the comments off everyone above.

Special thanks to Oswestry club and the club volunteers, special mention to Gareth Stanton for his sun burn on Thursday, silly boy!! Fantastic track and I really enjoyyed the jumps once I got used to them, get one st up on the Triangle track for Regionals now guys!

I'd like to thank the BRCA officials as always, it was a tricky weekend and there were some decisions made which I know didn't sit well with people, in fact I don't think there have been that many complaints at a National since I started doing them in 1996!!

On a personal note I thought it was a great weekend to be a ref, alot more penalties dished out this weekend than I've known as a ref but every single one (to my knowledge) were accepted by the drivers and marshalls - thank you!

2wd - managed to put it in the 'D' Final after nailing a 14th in Round 4, without my silly mistake on the In Lap it could have been a 9th with a bit of luck but a 14th is more than acceptable for me at the minute, shame it went with a 35th

4wd - Not as a good a day today and was down in the H Final, mainly to do with my lack of experiance adapting the BJ4 thoughout a meeting, but again I felt on a clean run I'm not that far behind a Top 30 spot in each round so I feel a still made progression despite taking a step back!

Finally, congrats to Ellis for his weekend. I'm not at Talli...... (South Wales I mean) so see you all at Eden Park unless you race in the Mid West in which case I'll see you next week :p

Really enjoyed today, Thanks to all the people making today happen and thanks for booking the sun :D Thought the track was interesting and a test for everyone. Very well done to the club, BRCA and all involved (Including Danny who cut the grass :p). It was a well run meeting on a good track with great weather.

I agree with Rich that the triple was not great for consistency, but hey, we live and learn. The track gets better each year so I look forward to an even better one next year.

I also noticed that the yellows I got today were much better than the ones I got at Kiddy

I think Oz has come on a long way since 2 years ago, each year gets better. But the consistency of the two big jumps partially spoilt what was otherwise an ace track (I mean my ability on the 2nd to hit a microscopic down ramp - it was built well after the repair)

Brian Harris does a great job, but dare I say it - I want MCDC to be the full time MC! Its ace!!!!

Big thanks to McGee for doing the grass cutting, I think my comments regarding the track would have been negative now if it wasn;t for that.

Judging by the number of X6 orders we have come in to here at the shop this morning, those numbers might be swinging a little bit!!! Dont get me wrong the B4 will still be the most popular (by a long way) BUT if all these X6's are going to national racers we could see a big rise in X6's in one swoop!! At this rate the number of X6's would double in just two nationals!!!! :woot:

Not quite so much interest in the X5 after the weekend but one or two less XX4's may be seen dotted around now in favour of an X5!! :eh?:

I had fun yesterday, and it was yet again, a well run meeting. Well done all.

But I thought the jumps were a bit hit and miss, for us 'less experience' off roaders.
The tripple wasn't too bad, but the jump under the rostrum was difficult to get right as the down ramp was higher than it was long, so made it difficult to land on consistently.
Eventually I decided to land on top and drive off, but even then, you somtimes 'dug in' and ended up on your roof.

I also thought the track was a tad large and it took marshals a long time to get to your car. And because the air was so big on the tripple, marshalls wouldn't go near it unless there were no cars coming, which cost you a lot of time...even if it wasn't your fault.

Other than that, great job and smoooothly run.

Well done to Mr Stafford for the double win.

Great meeting, I must say that I found the table top a real challenge to judge on the Sunday (over jump and flat land = stop ...... under jump and clip the top and on your roof ) ...... only thing that proves is I need more jumping practice!!!

Yes, definately a ZX5-SP in there which was awesome all Sunday ..... just not well driven.

Yeh i forgot too, that I nearly hit Adam Skelding in the head off the jump infront of rostrum. (Sorry Adam)

I saw a car roll and Adam ran out, so I went wide on the jump to give him space and ofcause have to commit early for the jump - but Adam saw me and stayed wide thinking he'd be out of my way, and nothing I could do as I was midflight, its just very lucky that he moves so well.

If there was more thought put into downslopes, then there would be no car to marshall in the first place.

Im in no way slating you guys tho, im 100% impressed with effort (some of that %age goes to Mcgee tho ;)). Would be happy to return in 2009!!!! (Where we can win the quiz again - you really need to make it harder tho )

Whoever booked the weather - great job. Whoever built the track obviously took on board things said after previous events and I'm sure will do so again - great job. All the club/region members who pitched in to keep things running so smoothly - great job. Meetings this good almost make me want to pick up the sticks again!

I'm sure Jimmy and Stu will have some ace pics, am fairly pleased with mine but took loads and can't be arsed going through them all right now. Still, to keep you going there's a quick 'n dirty event gallery up on Photobucket (here) (http://s197.photobucket.com/albums/aa41/perapi/Oz%20Nat%202008/?albumview=slideshow) and I'll perhaps stick a few more there later in the week. And I definately have enough weight to pull about:p

Echoing everone else's words - Big E was superb all weekend and the Organisers did a fantastic job. Had a load of fun all weekend.

Respect to Danny McGee - Not wishing to detract at all from the superb job that the organisers had done in preparing the track, It was refreshing to see that a top driver was prepared to put a lot of effort in and not just comment adversely on someone else's work. His 2x Afinals were (IMO) justifed rewards for his sweat and efforts in (re) cutting the track on Friday evening.

Well done to everyone who contributed to Oz-fest '08 - a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes from the club organisers and the BRCA officials which often goes unnoticed - without this work, we'd all have nowhere to race so big thanks to you all.

People should be aware that when Jimmy posts his report there will be some groundbreaking stuff in it, stuff the likes of which not even God has seen before.
