Hi ooplers.
I have a question............
I would like 3 PT's on the same number. so.......
1, whats the best option,
2, the cheapest option and
3, the easiest option?
cant imagine all 3 have the same answer but you never know......
I have a MyLaps and 2 MRT's, but prefer one make all 3 on same ID, as these are all different............. or mrt's on the mylaps number....
wondering what options there are and i Know you lot will help.......:D

'Harry' PTs can't be cloned, so I bought an older one second hand so I can send it off to be cloned by MRT.

If you want to sell one of your transponders, to make a matching set let me know though :)

why can they not be cloned.
can a PT not have any number put inside it by those who make them etc?
I would ideally like to keep the Harry and get 2 MRT ones with the same number as that one, can that be done.
As yet no reply from MRT regarding cloning etc....
I have found a seller on ebay can supply 3 with same ID MRT ones, but guess thats the same as me going to MRT direct?

If you allready own an amb I'm 99% certain they can clone it for you

They can't clone a 'Harry' one. If you look at the order form there is an 'X' over the picture of one to show it can't be done. I've asked all the questions already.
That's why I've got an older one with built-in tabs to be cloned.

this is what I don't get. When Harry's were announced I'm sure I read something about you had ID's on them rather than clones. so you could have your number with ID 1 and 2. like 5128225:1 and 5128225:2, etc, etc.
then that would stop clones trigging the loop a second faster than the car moving over the line.
but BBK don't remember any of that when I mentioned it to them.
The reason why you MYLAPS won't make you an indistinguishable copy of your transponder is that the whole point of a unique number is to make cheating impossible. Remember their market is all of motorsport and unquestionable race results are vital. If you don't know how to cheat with a clone I'll tell you.
Get your mate to put a powered clone in his trouser bottoms and as you are coming round on your last lap, get him to go close to the loop. There are plenty of tracks where this is possible. Most timing software sets the decoder in standard mode where it will ignore duplicate transponder signals for 2 seconds after the first detection. If your mate is handy, no one will ever know. Its a bit more difficult with bbkRC because the decoder is in speed trap mode, so it sends every passing. You may have noticed a nasty noise if someone fumbles on the loop and crosses it more than once in a short space of time. That is the only clue that something might be wrong. Getting a 2 second advantage on a couple of results might be the difference between an A or B final. Imagine that at a worlds? I have no proof that this has ever happened because there is no way I, or anyone can prove it after the event. As long as there is only one transponder in the world with a given number, if that number is detected at a particular time then the car it is in must have been there. If there are two transponders with the same number then you can't be certain. Ever.
MYLAPS have stated that they will make transponders with the same Number, but there is a Car ID which will be different for each transponder with the same number. This Car ID will be exposed to the timing system so the Timekeeper will know if a different transponder is used. Depending on the event this might be quite acceptable, or it might not. The important thing is that it will be known to have happened.
Let me finish by telling you what I was told a few days ago by a well known Official in our sport.
"Consider this. A driver buys a new PT off you, he then send it off for cloning. When he gets it back he sells it on as brand new, never been in a car. The person who buys it has no way of knowing that it has been cloned and he thinks he has a unique number. Of course this is fine until he turns up at a meeting with the person who sold him the transponder." Do you know someone who would do that?
If you want multiple MYLAPS transponders with the same Transponder number (but different car ID) you can have them but not yet, and before you ask I don't have a date. You can buy one now (which has car ID 0) and have a same number transponder with a different Car ID in the future.
But relax, you don't actually have to buy anything.
That was posted in 2009 :woot:

I believe that if you own a Harry you can order another Harry with the same 'number' other than a different ID digit ... but only a genuine Harry at genuine cost (which to be fair isn't much more)

I was told by BBK in Sept 2011 you can't do that Roger :(

If you own a PT with unique ID and want another of the same number, as easier for all regarding booiking in etc etc. Surely the same number on 2 or 3 PT's is best, you can get them on the MRT ones. so why not the mylaps ones?
yes the points noted in the 2009 post, but if you really want to CHEAT, there are many ways to do it and if that goes on, then thats up to the tracks etc to sort it.
interesting coments about the cheating thou, I would think Very easy to stop that happening of course with relocating the look/spectator positions. IF that was a problem. On the majority of the RC scene i am sure thats not really an issue.
So. as yet, still no reply from mrt by mail or phone. hmmm..

On my first post I ment that if you own an amb then the mrt transponder can be cloned with the same number.
On a side note, I bought a new mrt PT from a supplier and at my first meet with it, someone else had the same custom/cloned number. How messed up is that :(

the only way to get a unique number from mrt is if you own the original amb number, i have 7 mrt pt's all on the same number which is registered to me with mrt, so untill i sell any, my number is mine, if u buy an mrt new then the number is not yours or unique

No, they can't clone one of these.
