How long before we see a belt driven 2wd a la the CAT SX3? Should be able to mount the motor exactly in the middle too.

Yeah its nice to reminisce but I was thinking something more along the lines of the DB1. But with the motor mounted in the middle rather than to one side. Should be an ideal weight distribution.

We've built a prototype, testing it tonight, will post some pictures if all goes well.

The DB1 has a motor offset to the right though, doesn't it? Being that it uses the rear half of a shaft drive 4wd.

We have also made one for a try ( rear sx3 front sv2) and all i can say . That work.
Minimum as fast as a sv2 on astro.

Here's mine, excuse the electrics but it was last minute rush. Will be revisiting the electrics and a small couple of mods before the next run ! But showed some promise.

I don't get how it'll generate rear traction. Going back a few years with the Cat SX1, we removed the belt and front diffs and tried that in 2wd. Granted its weight distribution is not as central as current cars - but it generated near zero rear traction at Worksop it was embarrasing.

What was so different then compared with now that these current central motored 2wd's like the DB1 work so very well?
