I'm looking for battery holder/location mods to lower CoG. Was thinking about dual 2200mAh 2S mini lipos, wired in parallel , mounted each side of the tranny on the side rails. This should get the weight down as low as possible, and allow the front battery mount to be removed allowing for more front axle movement where the servo is.
Has anyone done this, or something like it?

I run my cells up front on both my trucks to keep the front wheels down when climbing and have weighted the fronts as well.
Dont see why you couldnt mount one either side but as with nearly all scalers you will have to make something for them.
As i run 1700mah lipos which last for hour and a half each then you shouldny really need two batteries together, Just carry another in your pocket and swap them when the time comes. Thats what i do anyways:thumbsup:

I've been running 5000mAh lipo hard case packs that I run in my buggy. I've never flattened one in it, just runs for ages.
Which packs are you running?

However it's just too much weight up high at the front in the standard battery mount. I moved the receiver box to the same place on the rear of the chassis, which allowed me to lower the battery plate, but I think i can get the CoG lower. I've seen some people mounting a single battery on the curved chassis rails behind the front shock mounts, buts it's not really a mount, unless they have fabricated something themselves.

My thinking on dual batteries was to balance it left and right.

I've got the front wheels filled with stick on weights.

I just run 1700mah flysky lipos that i also run in my micros.
Also are you a member of here http://www.ukrcrc.com/forum/ as there will be a wealth of knowledge there too as i run the RoTM section as well. But running the battery behind the shock hoop is another idea but they prob have made something for it to mount to. And also velcro is wonderfull stuff

Can either use one and pocket one, or try running them both in parallel on my side rails. I've some velcro straps.

You say you get an hour run time out of a 1700mAh pack? What motor is that with?

I've got a Tekin FXR and 35T combo, but I've taken to running a 20 year old 27T stock motor, one of many that I have, which just gives a bit more wheel speed over the 35T.

I run a standard 55t brushed motor on standard gearing whatever it is as cant remember

Make sure that stock motor has 0 degree timing otherwise it will run really slowly in reverse...I just run a std tamiya silver can- costs are minimal and they run through allsorts of mud and filth
