Mardave kit - Ready to Race ??

Thinking about doing mardave\supastox for over the winter. It looks like my local club do oval saloon and some circuit meetings.

If i bought the VRX SS kit from Mardave is this ready to run (with the exception of electrics) ie: does it need anything else to make it reliable or not ?

I dont want to get into it if i need to start messing around modifying the kit car and purchasing hop ups to make it competitive etc

Heard mixed reports of having to do something with the front spindles and wheels, extra washers and potentially bracing the motor to stop it moving ?? :confused:

There are loads of mods and upgrades for the Mardave in particular but if you are doing mainly oval racing I wouldn't think these being too necessary.

I used to run Mardave oval about 4-5 years ago and it was good fun and I just ran the basic mardave chassis and standard electrics and was still very competitive.

As far as I know the oval scene hasn't really changed that much and I would think that the stuff you have is perfectly good enough to compete at club level with.

I am now beginning to get into the circuit mardave racing myself and there are a lot more recommended parts to buy that could make it quite expensive, from what I have read a Supastox is ideal for circuit straight from the box (although I have a Mardave VRXCE).

It depends on the level you wish to compete at. Personally I feel the diff is an essential upgrade for circuit racing. But at the end of the day, the cars are so simple that very subtle tweaks here and there are what makes the difference between a car that laps the track and one that wins races. If you are not interested in fettling, modding, upgrades etc then I doubt Mardave is for you. However the sort of things that need to be done are really not taxing, I would encourage you to give it a go.
