airbrush to start few questions

Hi Codi,

most water based paints spray un-thinned, straight from the bottle around 30-40psi. You'll need a reducer for thinning if you want to use less pressure for detail etc. Get in touch with RCS, should be able to hook you up with everything you need.

I havent used that brush personally but have seen mixed reviews about it, I'm sure it would be fine but what I an recommend is the Iwata revolution CR if you can stretch to the extra.

Though this seems a touch expensive, I only bought one a few months ago at around £75 (cant remember where from tho) I also have the Iwata Eclipse HP C and thats also awesome though a tad on the expensive side.

Hey Codi, I thought I would start to have a dabble at airbrushing, that is the airbrush I chose, I'm no expert but I struggled a little bit using this brush with water based paints, the opaques didn't seem go thro very easy straight out of the bottle, the transparents/flu you could get away as they are abit thinner.

I know it is expensive but the difference was unbelievable, it made things so much easier, when starting out things seem to be against you anyway so best to try and get the best kit you can, I'm sure with quality kit you could move it on with little loss if things don't work out.

I too have heard mixed reviews on the brush as Andy mentioned. But hey, it has got to be better than alot of the cheaper brushes on Ebay...you would hope?? :D

Alternatively, I have now stocked some brushes. Slightly finer than the CR but still capable of coverage. Both good brushes though and I know, I own and use both!.
Just depends on your budget on how much you think you will like/get into airbrushing. If you think you may find a real enjoyment from it and will be wanting to do it more and more then if you can, get a relatively decent brush to start with to save wanting to update a few months down the line.
Alternatively if you aren't sure whether you will like ab'ing or not, just get a cheapo brush off the bay to get you started..

Starting with the right kit is half the battle won! All a bit chicken and egg I'm afraid. As has been said, you'll likely struggle to progress with cheap gear.

Been using an Iwata HP SBS for yonks and never regretted the spend!

thank you for every ones help but £45 is all Ive got to spend on a brush at the moment so what do you think get the neo one and then if i get into it go for a good iwata one or is their any thing on the market around £45 which would be better

I've looked longingly at the neo too - what I will say is the £10 jobbies are ok, but can be frustrating when you want fine detail.

A 'proper' One is on my Xmas list ;)

Hi Cody, I use a Kustom brush - Not used a Neo brush but you'll get an entry brush from a well known brand...

Couple of q's on your compressor mate, does it have a regulator & moisture trap?

For Createx yep the opaque white I've found to be thicker & always reduce the white & Black especially. For the ratio of paint to reducer it's dependant on personal preference & what you want to use it for - A thinner mix for doing shades & shadows & a thicker mix if you want it to cover over candies, flo's etc as you would need the opacity to get it covered....

Not tried an Iwata myself, so that will I'm sure be better still, but I get on absolutely fine with this one and the build quality is good.
