Hello everyone. I am the happy owner of a new zx-5 SP. I am not a racer, but a slightly crazy brushless basher. I found out Sunday that this buggy can not take 50+ mph cartwheels and stay intact. I broke the front and rear tower mounts and all 4 of the suspension arm holders. I am wanting to brushless and bash proof this little buggy.

Has anyone tried PN Racing hop up parts with any success?
I searched for hours last night and most of the aluminum I found appears to be cast junk, not milled. Then I found http://www.pnracing.com/ who claims their parts are made from 7075 Alu. If this is the case wonderful.

I went ahead and ordered the tower mounts and front/rear arm holders in hopes they are of the quality claimed. They look nice and appear milled and polished, not cast.

Thank you,

DickyT

looks like a few of the bits i used when i ran the car in 05, the alloy shock tower holders and hinge pin holders are good but be carefull to leave a week point that is cheap to replace like wishbones or c hubs or all that is left to snap under highspeed crashes will be the chassis which as im sure you can imagine wont be either cheap or easy to replace

c hubs are next on the list for 7075 treatment. I can only spend so much with out the wife flipping out. I have plenty of spare SP wishbones on order as I expect those to break since RPM does not make parts for this car ;)

thank you for your input.

The shock tower mounts and suspension holders from PN are great. Been running them for years on my ZX-5. And when my SP kit gets here tomorrow they are going on it :)

Thanks Brad, someone who has used them speaking up is comforting that I chose the right product. any other must have strong parts for an off his rocker basher that beats the buggy like it is a full FLM e-maxx?

I do have 4mm CF shock towers already and the PN parts on the way. I figure when I can but he c blocks and maybe knuckles I should be ok, but am open to suggestions.

Does anyone make delrin or hardened steel diff gears? or are the stockers delrin already?

Most guys try and drop weight. I actually want to add some as the buggy gets a bit squirly and light on it's feet over 50mph.

The knuckles an hubs PN makes are for the old ZX-5. They will not work on the SP. I had some of their knuckles on the front and they bent rather easily. But that was before they started using 7075. I used their caster blocks as well and they worked nicely. You should be good with the 4mm towers. I just picked up a set myself and they are beefy.

As for the Diff gears. Shim the diffs so the mesh is a bit tight when first built . When you run the car they will wear in and free up the drivetrain. Don't go too tight on the slipper or it will eat diff gears like its goin out of style.
