savox in 1s mode

Hi,i will be running the superstox 1s chassis,i will be using half a saddle insead of the short lipo as i have them already,iv got the sxx v2 that works on 1s ans 2s,the trouble is that,even with no motor fitted the savox is sutting it all dowm as they run on 4.7v,will a powercap sort this or will i need a different servo,if i need a servo could someone let me know a good but cheap one,

thanks fo the info,looking at it though i will need a "glitch buster"as i use 2.4,it will probably be cheaper to get a new servo:(

would this run ok as it doesnt say it needs 7.4,and it says uses less power "Savox SH1357 Mini Size Coreless Digital"

you will need a lipo booster of some descrition as mentioned previously

i used a cheapo turnigy one cost me about a fiver if i remember correctly

A voltage booster is not needed as the LRP SXX v2 has a 1S voltage booster built in - please read the first post!! :wtf:

Reg, my first move would be to replace the servo with a Futaba equivalent, preferably a 9650 as this will work perfectly with all radio systems and is sized for 12th cars. If you are running 40MHz, then a 9602 will do the job and there are plenty around. If not, any other decent Futaba servo you choose. Avoid Savox - by far the vast majority of problems people post with interference and shutdowns in 1S include the phrase "and a Savox servo!"

I recommend you avoid all the glitch-busting solutions as these are just masks for a problem that all good 'any-radio'/SXX/Futaba electronic combinations always avoid in a 1S 12th car. HTH :)

No issue here with Savox 1251 on booster with either KO BMC esc or Mamba Max 1s esc. I'm using Spektrum 2.4 DX3S and SR3500 receivers. Booster is the RC Dynamics one. Haven't run Savox on LRP/Nosram though.

if you can find a cheapo lipo booster like i use its cheaper than replacing either servo or speedo other alternative is to use a small 4or 5 cell nimh rx pack and eliminate bec circuit totally

im not saying savoxs sevos are perfect but their issues can be overcome without throwing it away

I ma sure there are plenty of people out there with Savox servos working OK on 1S. Nonetheless, you see that phrase "and a Savox servo" so often when 1S issues arise that it says to me avoid them for that application.

Aonther reason to avoid them is that they place the spindle very close to one end and it is almost impossible to mount them correctly in a 12th or GT12 without giving you a weight distribution headache. They can be made to fit a GT12, but they simply won't fit into the vast majority of 12th cars.

There's a reason why a trip round any 12th pit will reveal that everyone uses Futaba or JR... ;) :)

but if you also read his post reg already has a savox servo and was looking for a solution first without replacing the servo the Sxx as you say is 1s compatible but the bec seems unable to power the savox thats why i offered a cheaper solution

no doubt ko/jr and futaba servos may work without a booster and may fit 12th or superstox chassis better
Savox seem to suffer even when run on 2s, its that they tend to be more power hungry than other servos then bec voltage drops and often cuts the reciver (commonly spektrum which i run predominately )

a power cap will usually cure those issues

Just fitted the Core-RC Pace 45 esc in 1s mode with the Savox 1251 and when using the steering causes the steering to stop and the motor to run :woot:. Fit the power cap and all is well :D. In fact things are better still as I've pulled the Savox out and out in a Futaba and no need for the power cap:)

Get rid of the Savox.

A local racer couldn't get his Supastox working with a 1s booster and the low profile Savox. To the extent that he has gone to 2s/21.5 instead,

Savox's put a heavy load on the electrics. They cause problems with 2s setups. So no surprise that a Savox is too much for a 1s setup as well. I would never recommend buying one... but the price is too good for most people to refuse, despite the problems they cause :eh?:

Futaba are a good servo.

It's also worth remembering that buying the best kit for pan cars is not only the way to get the best performance from the chassis, but that they have a good resale value. Yes, you might pay £45 for a 9602, or £60 for a 9650, but I've seen them sold for 60% to 70% of a new price when they are over two years old.

You can virtually guarantee 50% of the new price for a Futaba however old they are if they are in good nick, but I haven't seen a Savox sold for anything like that percentage of new price because no one wants them used. Just a thought...

I planned on getting one if I ever break my current low profile servo.
