I can delete a users pm's I think, but I can't open them or see anything about them just delete by user- it's meant for stopping spammers - which I wonder if this is some mad spam crazyness.:eh?:

UNIX time is the number of seconds that have passed since the 1st January 1970. PHP commonly uses UNIX time to send to the database (to store dates in MySQL etc). So whenever you see 1970 you know the database is reading the time field as empty or zero. MySQL is very good, but not bullet proof. Usually sorts itself out after a while.
