View Full Version : 2012 F2's, Juniors and Vets- Broxtowe MCC

This years F2's Juniors and Vets is being held at Broxtowe Model Car club in Nottingham just 10 minutes from Junction 26 of the M1. Address is here
Hall Park
Mansfield Road
Eastwood
Nottingham
NG16 3EA
Club website is here- http://www.broxtowemcc.org.uk/index.html
Camping available free of charge:thumbsup:
The event is being held on our new astroturf track with brand new rostrum built this month which is awsome! The club has both a permanent offroad track and on road tarmac track. The tarmac track will be open to use on the Friday and Saturday evenings so if youve always wanted to have a blast around a tarmac track with your buggy now is the time. If there is enough interest we can even put a race on the Saturday night on the tarmac track?
PBM Racing will be there for tyres spares etc
Heres some pics of the track and new rostrum and will be adding some pics of the entrance and parking/pitting areas shortly.
The track is a true all weather track with built in drainage and can be run in any weather. Grip is great even in the wet.
Any questions please use this thread to ask.

So time for the banter to start! who will the F2's this year? I always go for Tony Bishop so I will back him again although I have a feeling there may be a very strong Mid East team out to win
If Ashley is not running the Juniors I'd be backing him although there is always a random contender at these events as we always know!

either bloomers trueman or ed kerry for the f2's, ash is looking very good for the juniors but will have local jack neal for close company with conner and kyle not to far behind ;)
in the vets you will be brave to go against defending champ gnarly ;) not sure on under 13s but george colman could be one to watch :p

Darren, TT and also Elliott Boots could be there too!
David Burton could be there.
Glen Westwood could be there.
The F2s this year could really be hard one to call.
My money is my Team mate (there is your clue) but I am only giving the initials - you lot will have to figure it out

I will stand to be corrected but priority will always be with current F2 drivers but lower grade drivers can enter this event if its not filled up with F2s from that region ie 10 ish.....I would suggest that you ring or email Keith.......Keith is excellent and there must of been a misunderstanding somewhere.....In the end of year F2 Championship there must be a choice of the 3 competitions running along each other though - F2 - Juniors and Vets - maybe he thought you was old like me!!

Hi Guys
Sorry to interrupt your thread with Newb questions. This "vet" race what's the qualifying criteria? I know you have to be "over the hill" so I would definitely be in with a shout there. Do you need to have attended/raced in regional or national races to get a place ? Or is it open to any old boy that fancies a weekend playing toy cars.
Many thanks for your help :)

Pretty sure the closing date for entries has past now. May be wrong on this but entries went to your regional rep or direct to the BRCA by 12th August?
How do people who have entered know if they are in, by Post??
dbizzle5
23-08-2012, 06:37 PM
Different for each region i think mate but Nathan said for Mid East he will post a list on oople once he knows.

Toy Cars? This is serious stuff you know!!
Only joking!
You would of had to do some regional BRCA events to be able to enter

I think the closing date is the 19th but some regionals have run late so I belive there is a give or take scenario if with good reason of course

Quote from Paul Worsley
British Formula 2 Championship:
Ideally, the best drivers from each Region (excluding Formula 1 grade drivers) would compete for the British Formula 2 Championship (F2‟s), thus deciding the British Formula 2 Champion. This event is the logical next step on from your Regional events. If you have been the top F2 in your Region this is the opportunity to go National and try to beat all the other F2 competitors in the country? All entries from F2 drivers for this event will be given placement priority over entries from F3/4/5 drivers as they have their own dedicated event (F345‟s – see below). In reality, due to work, education or holiday commitments, we rarely get the all the best F2 drivers attending from each Region (i.e. the highest finishing F2‟s in the Regional series) so if you would like to take part, it is strongly recommended, even if you finished well down the Regional standings, that you submit the following Formula 2 entry form to your Regional Rep. You would be surprised the levels of success some Regional Reps. achieve in gaining places for their drivers at these competitions!
ATTENTION: Competitors that qualify for more that one of the three events (Junior’s, Veteran’s or F2’s) must nominate which single event they wish to enter. No competitor can take part in more than one event on the same day. The F2 event is open to any competitor (except F1 Grade for 2012), although priority will be give to F2’s before any lower Grades. The Junior event is open to any competitor of any Licence Grade aged under 13 or 16 as at 01.01.12. The Veteran event is open to any competitor that is 40 or over on 01.01.12.
*
excluding Formula 1 grade drivers - Not F3/4/5s - only F1
All entries from F2 drivers for this event will be given placement priority over entries from F3/4/5 drivers - Note the priority
priority will be give to F2’s before any lower Grades - self explanatory to me

It's a shame both current veterans champions won't be defending their titles! Never mind, leaves room on the trophies for a new name.

You apply for a place at the meeting via your regional rep. What region do you race in ? You'll probably have more success gaining entry to the f3 4 5 finals meeting at Southport instead.

I don't know for 2WD, but I'm going to go with Ed Kerry for 4WD. Dominated F345s last year and has been near the top in South East keeping Stafford, Williams and co honest from what I've seen of the results.
So Edd Kerry, Andy G will certainly be in top 3 I rec and I'll keep my third person to myself for the mo.

No No No  i don't want a national ,
Please no more checking batteries car weights and fitting Durangos in the box , stuck in scrutineering most of two days my legs are still like jelly.
Vets bringing in juniers cars, Juniers bringing in the vets cars all so confusing to a senile old fool like me Rodger had the best idea don't race the sunday.
A well done to Roger getting into the A in the vets on Saturday
unable to drive my own track, I crashed on the second table top every other lap, disloged motors, rip screws out of shocks. ended up in the C final of the vets both days.
two long 15 hr days for me up at 5 home at 8 and no sleep over night
I know Andy would love to get A national down here :D the track is good enough for it but we need more commeted Club members to do it justice for a National

it was good to be back for this event after so many years, have all ways enjoyed this meeting and can not wait until brad is old enough for the under 13`s
the broxtowe club did a fine job putting on this meeting and we look forward to coming back.
must say well done to the two young drivers from the south east that did so well, george tolly 2nd in the U13`s and kyle moon, 2nd in the U16`s , that`s not forgetting all the others that gave so much.
if any body want`s ed`s set up`s for either day please PM us

Well done at the weekend Ed and Les, great result! :)
Excuse my ignorance but do the winners/top 3 of this event get upgraded to F1 status?
Or is F status just done on regional/ national standings percentage wise??

I don't think it changes your grades Mark. I'm sure Ed Kerry was a F5 going into the meeting. Pretty sure it's just your regional/national finishes that gives your grade.

But as the latest set of results is from stotfold then you might be waiting a while, hopefully they will upload them soon.
