Just modify an iphone car charger to add 12v input connectors, crop clips, banana plus or whatever you use, to 12v leisure, or PSU, etc. you could also get a 12v car socket, with croc clips/banana plugs on and just plug in your regular car iphone charger. There are lots of ways.

As above - try this at Maplins:

Or...
use an 4 way extension lead and plug it in 240v right next to the same plug you use for the power supply

I like this idea as it can run from any 12v, might just get one and add some banana plugs. Then i can plug into my MuchMore distribution board.
Cheers guys:thumbsup:

I cut the wires and the rejoined them using banana plugs (male and female), this way I can still use it in my car/van, it can be plugged into my power supply or dis board and I also have some crocodile clips with female banana plugs so I can hook it straight to a 12v

Can anyone using this confirm that their iPhone likes it? I tried this once and the iPhone said that the charging management system would not support this charging system. I assumed that the CC/CV charging logic is in the charger, and not in the 'phone. If that's the case, then using this system could fry the battery in the 'phone.
Like Fidspeed, I stand to be corrected and have the humble pie waiting in the microwave! :)

I can confirm my phone is fine after using the device I pictured in post #8, it even mentions iPhones in the advert I posted. I'm not sure of the in's and outs of voltages and amps but is it not a similar idea of plugging it in the side of your laptop via the USB link you get with your phone? It charges then.
@MC yeah I'm sure apple and others do do chargers that plug in a cig lighter but you would still have to connect the cig type plug to your 12v some how?

I bought a Cigarette to USB device for about £2 from ebay. Take it all out of the case, and solder 2 leads on the end and job is most definitely a good one. Plug the std apple (or alternative ebay fake!!) into the usb and it charges my iPhone.

I had this problem after getting an iphone stand from ebay. Found it was the lead that came with it. So i would try another lead as i did then all was fine.
So they must make usb leads that dont do charging:(

then you can also charge in your car while traveling all for £5
