hi, im assuming that the horrific crunching sound im getting when braking is a result of me having my slipper set to tight and damaging my gears. (although gears dont seen too bad to naked eye)

before i pop a new set in i thought i would check that its not related to a different unseen problem?

cheers

have you checked the backlash on the teeth Dan, I know the teeth may look good, but there is chance, under braking, that the crownwheel is jumping teeth on the pinion.... worth a look if there is nowt else looking out of place?

I'll have a look for you next time i see you if thats any good mate?
Shouldn't need more shims, just move them around a bit;)

Also check the screw that holds the smaller gear in place. This may have worked loose or something.
This happened to me once and I didn't spot it....until the screw chewed through the gears.

other than that, just whats been mentioned previously and check the shims.:D

I was told to put 4 shims per diff. 2 of each color. It was tight as first but quickly felt spot on.
