View Full Version : F3/4/5 at Southport

SRCC
10-09-2012, 09:10 AM
Some extra information for the F3/F4/F5 Finals. To be held at Southport this weekend.
All the track work has been complete and looking in tip top condition.
Due to the very poor Summer the pitting field is still on the soft side (will be a lot better if we have no more rain this week) care must be taken getting on/off the field.
If possible car sharing would help with the wear and tear of the field.
Please bring suitable footwear. (Walking boots/Wellies)
Due to the shorter days (goes dark at 8:30pm) Bring a torch if you intend to camp as there is no lighting in the field.
If you do not have an information sheet, you can download one from either the BRCA website or from SRCC website :- http://www.srcc.co.uk/index.php?ind=downloads&op=entry_view&iden=88
Make sure you don’t arrive before 2pm Friday as per information sheet.
Any more information you require please ask on here (I have no details of drivers list)
We hope you have a fun and successful weekend.

The Landrover will be on hand to tow people out if they get stuck BUT let's try and be sensible and take a look at the ground you are going to drive on before you start ploughing across it!

I should be onsite from around 6pm Friday so don't get stuck before then!

Me either!

Your either F2 or F3 and below??
surely you can't be both?

If your saying rules are rules and he can enter, how did he get in the F2's as an F5?

Ralls Racing
11-09-2012, 07:23 PM
from my understanding. entries for the f2's is given from your regional standing. as ed was top non f1 he was top qualifier from our region. the f2 finals is not just for f2's, all other than f1 can enter but priority will be given to f2's. i dont beleive we filled our quota of places in the f2's as was, so ed would have no troubles in getting a place.

Nathan

rc_penguin
11-09-2012, 07:29 PM
As Nathan says, I think myself, James Clifford and Michael Vincent were the only F2's who entered from the south-east, So this leaves spaces open to other formula grades from the SE, Hence why Ed could enter, Not much wrong with that I'd say although Ed is quite fast for an F5 lol :p

wouldnt it be funny if massaimi came and raced the eos in the uk he would be an f5 too.

well said Stu.
we may not like racing against guys who have previously been F1's, but if they have moved back to F5 under the rules then they are just as entitled to race as the rest of us. Just means we have to up our game.

The F3's are generally won by some F3 who has developed at a fast rate anyway and secured an F1 during that season.

The only way round it would be to ban any F1 from dropping lower than an F2 no matter how long they have away from the sport, but that would be a bit harsh.

I really like the fact that former F1's can run at these meetings. I learn more from these one off meetings than i do at a whole regional season.

I love watching the quick guys.

I also think there will be more fast guys at the F345's than there was at the F2's.

Remember that guys like Tony Edvoka are F1's but he gets to run in veterans.

Ed is a F5 no matter that he was a F1 in the past. I can bet that many times in the past ex F1 drivers have returned to racing as F5's, competed at the EoS finals & won.

The top guy's at the EoS finals should see racing against an ex F1 as a challenge which it will be but a good way to improve your skills. We have guys coming down from Scotland who are F5's but next year will be F2's & some of them if they raced at the nationals may even scrape a F1.

So what actually isn't fair is having a go at someone because they're an ex F1

Ed will be up there this weekend with a good chance of winning but I'm sure he won't have it all his own way, I'm sure there will be others there this weekend also more than capable of winning

The coast closure is from the old sand works until the near the pier.

You should be able to come from end of M65 / Leyland and go through Bretherton instead of Croston. Last time I went that way o think the signposts took me down Scheslig Way, then istead of following all the way I made a right turn at the Dunkirk Hall and took me the Bretherton route.

Despite a 6 hour journey there and a 7 1/2 hour journey home for 1 day of racing ( I could only do the sunday due to work commitments )
And the fact it drizzled with rain for most of the day.
I had an absolutely great time, the competition was much higher than expected however I have been racing less than a year so didnt expect to be anywhere near the A, B or C finals.
Even propping up the bottom of the table was just as fun and still with a lot of moral support from fellow drivers.
