Anyone tried running there 410 as a 2wd? I know that guy at the petit race did it and it went pretty well. Just wondered if anyone on here had tried it?

broke a rear propshaft at a wet meeting the car was ok easier to drive than when it was 4wd, jumped a bit weird though.
Was in a final and finished higher than o qualified so couldn't have been that bad!!

Just give it a whirl Dan! You might want the extra caster hubs, plastic chassis brace and 4 deg toe. Will prob be better in high grip than low!

Hehe ok, sorry :) In that case I suggest you indeed just try it out. Perhaps this could be interesting for you to read through?

It's a topic about a custom TRF501X based 2WD buggy - I also saw a post with someone's 2WD BJ4WE in there. I'm sure there will be guys who can help you on making a setup for a 4WD going 2WD (it's probably what they did before they started modding their cars).
If it helps with your confidence about running the 410 in 2wd years back i used to run a LazerZXR in 2wd with the front shafts removed. It actually worked better than my Cougar 2000 (mainly due to the weight I guess more over the front axle.
Just take out the drives, put something in place that will hold the front wheels on, then go for it....it wont break it

Yeah, think i might give it a try. Just need front axles without driveshafts on for the front wheels and will remove the front diff and centre shaft.

as standard with no weights the 410 is heavier at the front.
Take out the rear diff and driveshafts, prop shaft, put a tresrey under gearbox weight at the front could be good.
Might be worth a though.

Take out the rear diff??? How does that work? Am not wanting to run it FWD?

I've accidentally run my 410 both FWD and RWD (and 4wd of course) FWD is far easier than RWD.....

The weight distribution is too far foward for it to work on all but the very highest grip tracks.
Now if you was to make a new rear chassis brace and modify the side pods so you could turn the cells through 90 deg and butt them up to the brace and then move the spur mount back so it butts up against the cells getting the weight alot further back it would probably be ok...

Hello
In the latter weekend took place the PTOs race of Portuguese League 1/10 electric, a DEX410 in 2wd version came 3rd place overall behind 2 DEX210.
And works very well

IV been running a 410 for 3 years, if any part of the front transmition fails the car is undriveable.
when rear parts fail you can still finish a race.
As mentioned im sure on mega high grip surfaces it will be fine rwd

Try a quick test its only grub screws to remove the propshafts.
Run it front.
Then run it rear.

One of the top 4wd racers at my club(TORCH) told me he had tried it and it worked great at the high grip TORCH track but didn't work on low grip tracks. May be something can be done to find a set up for low grip tracks then that would be awesome!.

I've accidentally run my 410 both FWD and RWD (and 4wd of course) FWD is far easier than RWD.....Did mine FWD yesterday for a while (rear centre driveshaft finally expired, 18 months of use!) it was fairly obvious that something was missing, but the car was still driveable, just a bit odd........
