ok lets talk about screws !!!

Hi All

At last my YZ10 has arrived and i was taken back to my childhood its amazing love it and seems to be in good condition apart from some of the bloody screws they don't want to come out at all and are like butter !!!!

Any ideas on how to get them out ?? and if so what can i replace them with !!! the one on the wheels are nit budging at all i have a felling thread lock may of been used !!!

Are you using Japanese screw drivers?

Euro cross head drivers have a different angle to the point and destroy screws really quickly.

That's a good tip about screwhead types....need to remember that!

Anyhow, the Yokomo screws are crap! Through the numerous vintage models I've rebuilt, I've found Kyosho screws to be the most durable!

The Yokomo ones are rubbish....with my kits I replaced 95% of them with stainless steel BH or countersunk screws. They look nicer and are easier to maintain.

If the Car is old and hasn't been used, I'd recommend using some lubrication and letting it settle for a few days e.g. WD-40 or GT85.

If you completely knacker the screwhead you'll end up having to dremel and drill the screwhead...can jeopardise the chassis! If you think there is thread lock, apply some heat (e.g. through a soldering iron) to help soften it.

Hi there.

If the screws are about 3mm you might have to buy yourself a set of micro grabits, these will work a treat and shouldn't destroy your wheels. Should find them on ebay.
