Even though he's never likely to see it, I'd like to give a congratulations to Mr Shane "Shakey" Byrne for doing the hat trick at Brands today and also winning the BSB crown this year on the Rapid Solicitors PBM Kawasaki.
Well done that man.
Well done too to Josh Brookes who put in a sterling effort and made the season what it was, one of cracking racing, not to mention the rest of the field too.
Roll on 2013

Anyone know if he's still going to MotoGP with Paul Bird Motorsport next year?

I don't think he should. He's too old. If I was Paul bird stick one or both the lowes brothers on bikes give the up and coming younger riders a chance. Shakey is a top rider but he had his Moto gp chance.

Do you know the a**ehole in the link above?
Why would you attack a child over shakeys boot? ( look down the page a bit)
I don't know who Shakey is, but I know I don't like the fact that a little boy was beaten over his souvenir by some scum ! Luckily caught on camera
Take a look
Cheers

your link doesn't work chief
I was alerted to this by my ex racer childhood friend/ex neighbour Jamie Morley on his FB, So I bunged up the picture on the MCE bsb FB page. It has created quite a storm and the event organisers have now got involved.
They say there is no concrete evidence that the bloke punched the kid to steal shakeys boot, but they are in search of the child and his family to come forward to clear up the story. Stuart Higgs, series organiser has already said he can have a pair of tickets to any BSB race next year, Shakey himself has offered various forms of compensation in the way of vip passes, souvies etc. It is asked that we look less for the white top guy and more focus on the nipper.

Doubt it, in his 30s now, and without the GP heritage of kids from the continent, he's unlikely to get anywhere. Let's be honest, he's already been there, done it, come back, he's also been to WSB, and come back. If you were a sponsor ( continental one at that) , who would your money be on, a kid who's grown up in the paddock and has been groomed since the age of 15 to race GP machinary, or a bloke from England who muscles heavy proddie based stuff around on rural UK tracks. Sponsors have big say in who rides for teams as it's their money.
Paul Bird is an intelligent man, which is why he has all that dough, but he is also passionate about the sport, as is shakey. I'd like to see them both come back next year to defend the title. Too many teams bugger off in search of bigger fish, just look at Cresent and Hopper, Gone to WSB, and the bike is lame (but that blame lies with Suzuki Japan, and is another debate for another day).
As the news comes out that there may be no Swan Yamaha next year, the sport we love needs familiar names and faces we can get behind, not all this chopping and changing.
Stay in BSB Shakey, with PB, a multiple winning combo.
