You gotta say though, they're all a bit 'overpriced', surely?? I mean, £500 would still be a lot for the standard Mid, and still, not everyone could afford that.

Just my thoughts.

Agreed he has some great stuff listed but the prices are crazy, that Turbo Optima Mid Special is tempting but not at that price.
Still, its worth whatever someone is willing to pay I guess

I must admit i am tempted to start collecting older and maybe unique RC kits. Are these likely to go up in price in the future ?? I guess they cant really be raced in anger anymore due to parts availability so they would purely be for show/shelf queens.

These seem stupidly priced at first glance but whats the chances of finding another NIP car of this era ??

That they're original and NIB means they're "unobtanium". :)

Well the turbo Optima Mid Special auction has ended early, I guess someone made an offer and they did the deal off eBay to save on PayPal fees.
I was tempted to make an offer but I guess if I built it the only difference to my current project was the genuine body, and I doubt I'd really be able to tell when its sitting on a shelf. If anyone is buying that for investment purposes it needs to stay in the box, but to me I may as well stare at a picture if I'm just going to keep a stack of boxes

It will have been Dan that bought it, he's got more money than a horse can shite. His next post will be a step by step on the build of this kit.

I happen to know Paul who is selling these kits. To be honest his prices aren't bad at all, if you are into NIB collecting, as they are stored in a temperature and humidity controlled room so you can be guaranteed they are perfect. If you are collecting NIB kits unless you are rich you really have to be lucky and find kits elsewhere or hope all the collectors already have what you want. In the good times he has been known to spend up to £15,000 in a month on ebay collecting NIB kits.

You might like to see a few photos of his collection.

Porsche 959s anyone?

Scorchers and Porsche 934s
http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=81008&sid=4964

The Tamiya Black Porsches in the above picture are the holy grail of vintage collectors, NIB in a good condition box complete with bag will set you back around £5,000. Paul has at least half a dozen and has even split one of them for a fellow collector to replace the parts that were missing in the Porsche he had bought.

Although Paul Kings collection isn't anything like that of Olivier Sebastiani

I'd love to see a collection that size that is all vintage Kyosho, Yokomo Shcumacher etc, i.e. everything BUT Tamiya
