Just want to what's the benefit of this design? It's unique I love it:D, but what's the benefit?

What I can tell is maybe the momentum of motor affects less the traditional transverse layout?:eh?:

No offense when i say this as i want one however it looks like x2c and x4 combination done properly by the manufacturer not much new other than the chassis but at least you will be able to run a gear diff and rear anti roll bar another plus is my spares for my x2c wont be useless

sascha_rccm
12-11-2012, 08:16 PM
The front of the TM2 comes right from the other 2wd-cars, like the TC02C. The rear comes from the T4V2 with the gear diff build in! In the middle we will find some TS4 parts on an new chassis ....:woot:

On carpet it works really fine! We will try it on Astro ... :p

Curious to know if the standard or cab forward TC02C will will fit?

Looks like it should! :)

Be nice to see a conversion kit too as I have a ton of spare cars that don't get used a lot.
Would be good to use as donors to cut cost.

It may well fit but could look a bit weird as the spur gear is not in the same place, also the cut out at the rear of the shell will be different. The car is a mix of 2 and 4wd so the shell will be too lol

The TC02C Body works on the TM2 but isn't a perfect match!

You have to push it a little backwards (attention with the hole in the front for the clip) and it will look like mine!

I had a quick go with a 'bitsa' car running this layout at silverstone last night and it's going to be very good on high grip, the biggest improvement over my TC02C was through a quick chicane where it just changed direction that bit quicker, not so good on the slippy sections though.

I don't know this so don't shoot me down, but maybe the price has been finalised by team c in Hong Kong? And maybe euro rc have been quicker to put the new price in place? It WAS up at 299 euros last week on their site, and yes it's now 219. That surely can't be a discounted price already? Madness if it is

Guess it has much to do with volumes, we are a big TeamC store with a large stock of products. We also always give discounts on pre-ordered products. This means the price will probably be more in line with SMD when the product itself arrives.

for 20e you can get anything shipped fast to UK from our shop. For 10e you get anything that fits an envelope. Over 300e orders are free shipping.

PS. We actually had a pricing error on the kit so those who bought it early got a very good deal.

Looks good in those pics. The burnt orange is different.

My only comment on the package would be why not include the alloy front and rear hubs and rear hangers. They are the only parts likely to break and this kit is priced at the upper range of the market so an extra £30-40 to include all the alloy bits (in orange of course). Maybe the will do a team version like this.

I'm not 100% sure but I think most of the current upgrade parts would fit. Front and rear hubs look like the current 2wd version. I don't know whether the rear hangers are off the 2wd or 4wd but expect upgrades to be available.
I expect someone will know more info than me.

Nick, looking at it all the alloy off the back of the x4te will go straight on,wishbone hangers, hubs, carbon shock tower, same with the front off the x2c,so im guessing all upgrades that are already out will go straight on,so your ok you can have all your bling:thumbsup:

Question is,have they put the correct seals in the shocks this time and improved the slipper unit,as thats going to need to be alot better than what was on the 4wd.

john333
24-11-2012, 12:38 PM
I've built small bore and big bore team c shocks and neither have leaked any oil whatsoever, maybe ansmann had different seals but the team c ones are spot on.

jasonrcb
24-11-2012, 12:51 PM
The ansmann big bore shocks had 1 small seal on the bottom cap and leaked like hell,so did the teamc versions i had from hong kong,so either they changed them after a while or you had the only non leaking set as it was common knowledge they leaked and there have been quite a few threads on the subject, hence i hope the situation has been sorted on this car

I have had teamc big bore shocks for around 2 years (3 sets total, 2 for 10th buggy and 1 set on my TS2TE), there were always two o-rings for the shock shaft, iirc all the versions also has two outrings between the bottom cap and cylinder. I never had any leak issues.

john333

Well I can guarantee you any problem that ansmann shocks may have had in the past have been well and truly fixed on any current team c car.

The front is from the TC02 family, so all upgrades will fit just as normal. The rear is from the TC04 family meaning any upgrades fitting the t4, tc04 or tr04 pro will fit the rear.

Basically this means all the upgrades you will ever need is already available in shops.

There is still a place foreseen for the slipper of the TC02C while the slipper of the TM2 is not there anymore!

no there is no Upgrade to use this without the c clips.

In the shocks there are 2 c clips to hold the piston.

I like the look of that car and i think between my Monkey and SC4 I got most of it. I could put the two together and away i`d go;). If i dont do that then the shell Si`s is sposed to be doing may fit my Monkey/TC02.
And with regards to `E` clips, you can change them as i have. I just put long M3 cap screws and a nut .Job done

DrPaul

Rych,

The TM-2 comes with a mid motor shell from the TC02C with the spur cover etc at the back. The TM-2 doesnt need the high spur cover due the the motor being in the middle of the car, thats why Phat Bodies are doing a shell to wrap around the TM-2 more like the DB-1.

Front bulkhead and link mounts?

Also specially the front alu chassis support? Don't want to be breaking the CF chassis often.

Hy,
when I'm well informed the chassis will not come with alloy parts.
ans also you don't need them ...At the EOS a car was in B final with the completely basic kit.

When you seal the sides of the CF plate you will also not break the plate normaly ..you will not run it on asphalt I think :)

with front alu support I think you mean the plate from Oli, this is self made and not availably since now ..this is also not done for not braking the plate but for adding weight in front of the car:D

Hy guys,

Only reason why Oli is running this kick plate is that he wants to add weight on the fornt, he was those plates in differnet thickness and in different material to add the amount he like. he is always running a lot of weight in his 2wd cars.
here is his complete setup attached and a good starting point for carpet.

regards Tom

some advices:
very important !!!!
please dremel a little bit of the batteryholder away where the plugs are cause depending the plugs it can touch the holder an this one is carbon. so just take a little material away from there. safety fist:thumbsup:

another is for those who want to run the car on astro, please try also the old 2wd rear wishbones etc cause they give you a lot more drop and I found it way better on low /mid grip astro.

I had one big crash on the straight when I forgot to brake and no bits broke, Happy day's. The one thing I noticed was how long the car is compared to other cars :o. I measured the it against a 210 with an 8mm longer chassis and the TM2 was longer.

Has anyone else got a noisy drive train feels free and smooth but under acceleration it makes quite a noise. Any ideas?

James

Ours is noisy too and so is Alecs. Think they all are. Should scare the competition!

Mine was very noisy and the reason for this and the spur letting go was a bearing seized in the motor so all is well and ready for tomorrow

Mines very quiet...... sitting here on the table

Can't wait for tomorrow at 'ton.:thumbsup:

I felt the drive train was smooth but quite tight so I've replaced the rubber sealed 10x15x4 bearings for the Diff and Slipper assemblies with metal sealed... feels a bit looser, Maybe a bad move...thoughts?

Also, were anyone elses front axles really sloppy? - ie sliding in and out by at least a mil.... gonna try and find some shims to take out the play.

BTW Alec were'nt you going to post your setup? Pretty please!

Should be fun tomorrow with 6 TM2s in action! Our front axles are the same Jez. Shims might be the way to go.

I believe Alecs set up was standard with 40 front and 20 rear shock oils. I'm sure Alec will comment.

How are you guys getting the tco2c rear hubs to work?

I thought the 4wd hubs were 2 mm wider so there would be a lot of shimming to the hex. Am I missing something?

Trying to work this out as I have built a home brew tm2 from a tc02c chassis as the tm2 is not yet available in AUS.

Cheers

Hi that was my start set up with the car. The track was a mixture of grippy carpet and a slicker carpet with some vinyl and hardboard jumps. Overall grip level is medium I'd say and the car was very good with this set up.

The second meeting was on a high grip indoor astro track with wooden jumps and one section of vinyl. The start set up was identical to the one above and the car was again superb. This shows that the car is really easy to set up and very versatile.

I did try the 2wd rear wishbones on the car and this shortens the wheelbase
and makes the car a little more twitchy which will suit some drivers. :)

Will be making more changes to the set up and racing again tomorrow so will report back after that :)

Stats wise I probabely had my worst nights racing ever on Tuesday night at Silverstone with my TM2:

Practice - Succeeded in doing possibly 4 laps in total - couldn't steer, glitching etc - thanks Simon East for soldering an extra length in my ESC speedo signal lead - My fault using an extension connector.
Heat 1 - 6 laps running really happy then no power - Alec happened to be marshalling at that spot - him and me couldn't see anything wrong - later discovered the motor wire connections had worked free - My fault hadn't had time to solder
Heat 2 - broke ballstud on first jump - My fault - when building, I hadn't put the retaining screw in the rear hub pivot - so that that had worked free and jammed up the wheel.
Heat 3 - 7 laps in... a front tyre came completely off the rim and rolled down the track - yep, my fault - I hadn't glued it.
Final - Started last on the grid - within a couple of laps I was in 2nd chasing down a 4wd until I started glitching again so to avoid damage I pulled it off.

Car wise and potential - I HAD THE BEST NIGHT SO FAR -:thumbsup:
This car is brilliant - so stable it would be rude not to drive it fast :)

Just gonna spend some time preparing the car better - electrics, threadlock, glueing, etc.

Disappointed we're not at West Bridgeford this weekend, but roll on Tuesday at the 'tone.

Alec

those are the larger ones, any idea on the smaller ones that went on the prop shaft?

Marcel said it's Absima part number 86000 and the only place that has it in stock is SMD and they don't ship to Canada.

You can use the Losi Shim set
Losi 5mm/6mm Metric Shim Set [LOSA6356]

obviously you want to use only the 5mm.

Club championship week 2 at Silverstone and the car justs gets easier to drive with another win.

Set up above except for the rear hubs changed back to kit which makes the car rotate in the corner a little more.

Excellent car, really enjoying the way it can be driven really hard when necessary.

Couple of things to take note of:
When assembling the kit make sure that the spur gear is facing slot downwards (pin slot in spur faces the spring).

The manual has the tapered shock pistons the wrong way up.

Replace the split pins in the rear wheel hexes with stainless pins or these will fail you at some point .

Why did they put spilt pins to hold the hexes on anyway. They may aswell of used peices of cheese:confused:

This is a good point and vital to do if you don't want to bugger a spur gear in minutes! Don't know the reason for it, but I've built 4 now with no issues but 2 that were built by others and both unfortunately had it the wrong way round wrecked their spurs in the first nights racing.
