Hi Guys

Has anyone ever tried to restore Kyosho's gold shocks fitted to the Lazer/Optima range.
I'm thinking of doing it for my ZX display model.
Was gonna thoroughly de-grease, rub down with scotch and then apply a high quality Etch primer. (I assume they're ally?)
Then it's just a Q of paint.
Humbrol emamel gold, plasticote gold etc??

What do you reckon?

Cheers peeps
Nick

Also is there any diaphrams that are a straight swap?

Hmmmm, I wish there was an easy way of restoring these, because I've got quite a few that need doing. I've tried contacting anodisers around the country, most of them couldn't be bothered replying, and the ones that did, use a gold that is nothing like the original gold.

I thing you'd struggle to get suitable finish with spray paint to be honest, but it would be interesting to see!

Good luck.

A strip, reanodising and polish is the best way

Try Adam at absmetal....all I can say awesome and so reasonably priced.

I can email some of the work he's done for me recently.

I've got 6 full sets of gold shocks that hopefully he is going to sort for me.

Here they are!
Used Associated B4.1FT 'O'-Rings during the rebuild.
I think the gold is quite nice. Not too Orange.
