Which One would You Run? Cougar or Durango?

Hi All,
I'm planning on getting back into 1/10th off-road.

I've just about narrowed the choice of chassis down to 2.

I always used to drive Schumacher years ago so would go for a Cougar SV2 but what do people think of the Durango Dex210?

What would you peeps go for and why?

hi there ive ran the dex210 this year and it was a good car on high grip tracks but in the wet it was relly hard to drive now im runing the cougar sv2 and i love it dont matter what track i run it on its fast and easy to drive

I don't thing you can far wrong with either. They are both very popular.

I would check at the tracks you intend to race at too see which are popular, then you can get help with setups and spares.

PS I have just moved to the Durango 210 :-)

Had a dex210 since release and love it, struggles on grass because the hubs can clog up, aftermarket hubs are available though.

Best thing is to head to your local track and have a look.

I'm considering what to buy as a first car as well, I haven't ruled out the Losi 22 or Ansmann s2c yet. I'm reading as much info as I can at the minute, good luck with whatever you decide to get.

Best thing is, if you can, blag a drive of either. I have the Schumacher and think it is very capable with very few tweaks out of the box.

I recently had the same dilemma, choosing between the SV2 and 210.

The way I looked at it was that each car had it's own merits and fans, but when it comes down to the actual costs etc this is how I looked at it...

It seemed to me that there was an awful lot of upgrade parts for the 210 (stuff that wasn't just bling) where as the Cougar didn't.

Spares seemed to be widely available online for the Cougar, where as the 210 had them listed but normally set to 'out of stock'

I had read on oOple somewhere several people mentioning the low build quality of some of the 210 parts, especially when compared to the 410.

More Cougars ran at my club. Even though the motor mount swap sounded a good thing to have with the 210, I thought when do I run outdoors in the wet or on dirt... never!

So I plumped for the Cougar Sv2, and it has been really good. Obviously I can't comment on the 210 as I didn't go for one :)

I'd choose the SV2 every day of the week.

I had read on oOple somewhere several people mentioning the low build quality of some of the 210 parts, especially when compared to the 410.Nah, i think it was just the naming convention. The DEX210 doesn't have the "R" on the end of the name, when really, it should. Its pretty much comparable to the 410R, rather than the 410. Which you would expect it to be similar to.

The actual build quality (fit and finish) is fine. Everything fits and works out of the box.

And as far as all the upgrades and bling goes, there is probably less than £30 worth of "essentials" Anything else is just nice to have and/or personal preference. (and in my case, needed as i am a ham fisted driver)

OP, TBH, you won't go far wrong with either.
Just a matter of what the popular cars in your club are, and what your local/favourite shop stocks. (FWIW, i've only once been left high and dry with Durango spares, and that was during the "Oh so horrific" parts shortage of 2012)

I suggest you try the two out if you have friends at your local track just try one and go from there it all comes down to what is comfortable for your style of driving I did exactly that and I have the Losi 22 mid and rear for all occasions. :D

Out of the two definitely the SV2 over the 210 for me. I bought a 210 and sold it following two meetings due to the frustrating poor quality diff. I'm aware these can be made to work but the poor quality or should I say poor design has put me off Durango products forever.
I replaced the 210 with a TLR 22, not the easiest car out there to setup but very reliable and absolutely bomb proof...I haven't broken a single part in 20 odd meetings.

I think the SV2 is the best of both worlds

If your a club level driver, id go for the SV2.
I had a 210, and its very fiddly, however a good car once you've got it setup.
And you'll find you need to change things alot track to track.
Recently bought a SV2 and ran it first time on Sunday, and must say it's the easiest car ive driven. Straight outta the box, just get a setup off petit, and away you go. Build quality is top notch, excellent part service off schumacher.

I drive a C4.1 but if I had two choose between your two options I would choose the Cougar - far better in damp conditions.
