I'm just interested in what PTs people use in their cars. I'm not interested in what is better and so forth.

Mrt....

My amb finally gave up after 6 years service so got the mrt purely because it's more aesthetically pleasing

mrt x 6 (but can only cast one vote) cloned to my personal number

had one go down which i think could have been user error, sent to mrt and thier 1st class service saw me with a new replacement within one week!

you can not get that with amb/mylaps

1 original AMB, shared between all my cars, that I had to buy in order to be able to run 1/8th rallyX in about 2006 or so.

I actually left it unused for about 18 months as prefered to use the handouts until the rules were calrified on missed laps with PTs.

Hope I never have to buy another as it's been good this long, still on it's original lead and as I say gets swapped between cars as I only have one ... don't know what people are doing to kill them!

Have an original AMB which I had cloned to a few MRT's and is still working today. Have one MRT that's not cloned and possibly one other.

makes good sence if his club is thinking of upgrading to rc4, and 1/3rd of racers use mrt, which could result in a loss of entrants.

just going on what op has posted prior to this...

Correct, market research etc.

Not a decision to be taken lightly.

Myself I use Harry PTs, but it's not about me.

Interesting poll, like you I am thinking of upgrading our club to the RC4, but the majority of our members use MRT's and until it is confirmed they work OK with the new decoder like you I am holding fire.

In reality I cannot see why MRT's will not work as the RC4 will work right back to the AMBrc Handouts (which we use at the club)

Rob at BBK will be using the Decoder in parallel timing at this weekends Rug Racers, so hopefully we have more info then

Hey, It's Mikey

Alas, It's a necessary evil that affects how we race, like it or not. AMB for me, the MRTs weren't around when I bought my PT. MyLaps want an arm and a leg nowadays so if I were to do it again, I'd keep the money in the country and buy British. Cheaper too.

30-11-2012, 05:27 PM
well. I have had both, but i have sold my MRT's and use the Harrys now, mainly they are small and easy to fit anywhere and unique, i had an MRT that was a clash, cant be having that!
So MyLaps for me now...... No more clashes......

interesting regarding the new system etc. and MRT's. Hopefully there all compatable....

it's coming down 119.81%

Percentage is screwed as its a multi choice poll, so Dale has been able to vote for amb and mrt.

does not mean the percentages need to be looked at, just on numbers using each version a third roughly use mrt

Rib me all you want, I'm not doing it for some bollocks post count.

It's about looking at what's out there, being used and so forth. Then what's best going forward etc.

I've had discussions with various people.

I like Darren have seen clashes re PTs. I'd like the best tech for the sport, but equally don't want to alienate racers.

As a racer I'd have RC4 tomorrow

chill mikey

its obvious the poll is nt totally accurate

your original post is however spot on and an excellent way of researching the viability of clubs up grading to RC4

kind regards fid

Right behind this 100%. Using an MRT and thats my only option, plus only really racing at TORCH I would need to know if they are going to work with RC4 or not. Would ideally like to know before renewing my membership as if they upgrade thats another £50+ on a transponder for the privilege of racing

3 x MyLaps Harry's
5 x AMBrc PT's

Not been greedy, These are for my two sons and myself, lol

I agree with Mikey, this is a great poll, clubs need to know how an upgrade is going to affect turnout at their meetings.

On another thought, is there any BRCA requirements about which decoder is to be used in a National or Regional Events ?

there is no requirment for brca to use amb ( if another was to become available ;) ) or to which race programe is used

Well, the electric touring car rules to state AMB/Mylaps. The Off road section just references drivers must use personal transponders.

Mark, sorry chap, I don't mean about the type of program, I mean are BRCA going to say clubs need to be RC4 compatible to apply !!

thats what i put ;) brca dont stipulate in general rules that amb (now mylaps) must be used AMB make the timing equipment, bbk/rctiming do the race software.

Matt has pointed out that elec tc do state amb/mylaps, but not which software version

of road as matt has clarified dont stipulate either, so to me, they should all run (sections) what is currently proven to work! so as to qoute the brca motto "promote the sport of model car racing"

I have always used mrt's and had 2 programmed on the same number never had a clash.

With every thing going off I must admit I jumped ship and now own 3 mylaps Harry's which seem future proof as they send rc2 and rc4 signals.

For 1/10th Offroad Nationals, the section provide the Timing Equipment - currently BBK Software and an AMB RC3 Decoder.
For Regionals, the Host Club generally provide the Timing Equipment (either their own or borrowed from another club).

Stuart.

Then the question next is, are BRCA going to upgrade to RC4 ??

I expect they are looking at it and think should be left to do their investigation etc.

So back to the point please, this is a poll for now and can be discussed on the other thread.

So does this, 63. Racers were using mrt, all off which would not be able to compete

Mylaps answered this for you !

This demonstrates that all AMB/Mylaps transponders work reliably with the RC4 Decoders but MRT transponders do not, in fact only 1 in 5 PTX transponders recorded any laps at all. We have offered a trade in for MRT transponders in exchange for Harry transponders since April 2010 and continue to do so.2nd December 2012

Nope that tells me
We have developed a new system that no one model car racing club or organization needs (as our bumph says its to improve accuracy for f1 etc) as what they have now works, oh and while we screw the clubs over, those racers who run another brand will have to return to our monopoly so win win for us, loose loose for racers and clubs.
