Last january my daughters fiesta had problems losng power when driving then eventually it started cutting out. The problem turned out to be a blocked fuel filter.

It had a full service and new filter and the problem was sorted. Now 10 months and 18000 miles later the same problem is back. This time the car starts then as she pulls away it cuts out. It can be push started or sometimes started , left to warm up then it drives normally. I had a new fuel filter fitted again and it worked for just 6 days.
I've read that a bloke who had the same problem found that his crankshaft position sensor plug was loose.he fixed it with a zip tie. He never posted after wether that was a temporary fix or left alone working.
Any ideas on this.
Its booked in tomorrow for a diagnostic check which should show the code if it is the csp sensor.

was the filter shitty? if so you maybe need to drop the tank and clean it out. cpk should put mil on, but if it does loose signal from cpk the rev counter will drop to zero, as thats its reference.

I drove it before it had the new filter fitted and it cut out in the first 1/4 mile as I was slowing down for the car in front turning right. then restarted and cut out again 1/2 mile later at 60mph going into 5th gear. Both times it restarted and after it warmed up it was fine. I noticed the rev counter did drop to zero.
Its only got 45000 on the clock so would the tank be messed up with that sort of milage.

is it run on supermarket diesel ? just wondering if its a duff batch again
marks the ford techie, but stalling when cold is odd sounds like fuel waxing.
does the tdci keep its glow plugs on during warm up phase like my vw

She fill it at tesco,s mainly but I fill my tdci 2lt cmax at tesco's too, different brach about 4 miles apart. Not sure about the glow plugs staying on.
As before if she starts the engine and lets it warm up before moving off there's no problem its just from starting off from cold. Just wondering if the diesel is freezing. She was working nights when it first happened just as this frosty nights began.

If it is when the engine is cold, may well be to do with the fuel mixture being to lean?

I'll get them to check fuel mixture. Its an odd thing as once warm it runs perfectly returning 60mpg 5-600 miles a week on motorway and a little normal town stuff.

Had the diagnostics check this morning and it was the CKPS faulty. So not too expensive a fix at £82 parts , diagnostics and labour vat.

unable to adjust fuel mixture on near all cars now, crap in tank that all depends what is put in not age, doubt it would be fuel waxing, you hit the nail on head in reply to my rev counter dropping comment.
yup glow plugs stay on after start to aid warm up/emissions
