I'm after an original Lazer ZXR Mk1 damper stay (LAW-6). I'm not worried if the condition isn't great, I just need it so that I can send it to Fibre-Lyte for reproduction in carbon fibre. In fact, if no one has one available a scan would be useful as I could draw the template from it. Any help would be greatly appreciated as it's the last part I need to complete my project :)

i have one on the front of one of my lazers thats made out of carbon and looks just like a law-6

if you have no luck getting one i could take mine off and draw around it and cut it out of cardboard or plastic and dremmel it all to size and drill all the holes if needed also.

Yes that's the one. Another forum member very kindly sent me a scan of his and I've now made a template in Adobe Illustrator. I'll be sending it over to Fibre Lyte tomorrow for reproduction!

Wow thats great news. I imagine Fibre Lyte should be able to make me one after yours is done. Will you be able to post pics of the finished product when you receive it?

Yes I'll try and get some pics up when it's done. Fibre Lyte will be able to make you one as well if you like the look of it!

me ! KENIOS ( thanks to oli4ke , a time ago i bought his lazer zxr MK1 and the law-6 that was with it was broken, i glued it but it is only for a shelfer not a racer, it is strong but i guess when on a high impact it will break again.

Getting there! They are going to make it for me when they re-open in the new year so I'm really hoping to receive it within the next week or two. I can't wait as I've managed to build up a complete car from 99% new parts, I just need all the carbon bits to complete it!

Sounds good, look forward to seeing the results, both the tower and the entire car yo have built up

Sorry it's taken me a while to update this, but here it is. I ordered everything from Fibre Lyte for my new build project which is now almost complete. The front damper stay I had made is a very good reproduction, though I didn't quite get it right at the recess that goes over the top of the front gearbox. I needed to file about 1mm off and now it's perfect. I'll probably order another and adjust the template so if anyone wants one from Fibre Lyte they'll have it on file.

Anyway, here it is - all I really need to finish it is some original tires. It's built almost completely from NIP parts.

Wow! Carbon chassis looks hot!

What electrics are you going to put in it

This one is a shelfer, I've just picked up an unused vintage motor to put in it but it'll never be run.

I have a few others that I'm working on at the moment, one of which will be a brushless set up. I'm designing a new chassis, top deck and damper stays for that one, along with lipo tray. All will be carbon from Fibre-Lyte.

Wow. You redesign will certainly raise a few eyebrows amongst Lazer aficionados. Lipos a considerably lighter than sub-c so are you going to map weigh adjustments on the back?

It's going to need some playing around with and I'm no expert but will post everything on here when I'm done. I love the original ZXR design (it's what I raced as a teenager) but as I have quite a few ZXRs and lots of NIP parts I'm going to put that one together just as a bit of fun to see what I can achieve!

I like how this thread progressed from the search for a front tower to showing off a wonderful carbon Lazer

Im curious, what are you redesining as ive done at least twenty top decks, shock towers and chassis designs. Give me a hint as i may have already done it. Lipo tray has also been done in various formats but be warned you cannot use any saddle pack more than 4400 and believe me thats a tight fit with demon banana gold plugs. Also redesigned the gearboxes for brushless as well in CF.

Also there is a much bigger lazer zxr thread in the vintage section that has a lot of useful information. Better to post all there.

Can I ask, were those carbon fibre battery straps something you sent fibrelyte to copy or did they already have them on file. The reason I ask is because I sent them a battery strap to copy and they misplaced it but they may have gotten the parts I sent confused and though it belonged to someone else, along with the mid/zx rear wing mounts I sent them

Very hot looking Lazer BTW, I need to get off my butt and start my next two projects which are all fibrelyte carbon parts many of which are custom one offs, though they are both Mids a LWB and a SWB

They have those on file, i sent the originals to them in the 90's. Email them a picture and theyll find it

They need to list more of what they have on file on their website

I agree and have had a chat with them, but as they are a small team of guys its hard to have time to do this. They cover motor racing including F1 so have to prioritise their work load accordingly so its a when they have time to do they will.

Anyway some lipo tray designs that I have done. Im using the one on the chassis template, but use the ZXS version as well. Ive also done another couple of designs as well
