I'm looking to swap from my 22 to one of the above. Has anyone had both?, I was wondering if there's a big difference between them in handling and strength. Watching both cars at Area51 and this Saturdays silverstone club meet they both appear in middle to top finals and seem to suit all grades of drivers.
I'm liking the RB but not sure if my driving warrants the extra money :D

Hi Ross,
I've run both cars and they are both very well suited to Silverstone. For me the big difference has come outside on wet astro, the RB6 generates much more traction than the SV2 with me at the controls.
For sure there is a fair step in price between the 2 cars but for me the RB6 has been worth every penny.
Regards,
James.

Hi Ross,
I recently switched from the RB6 to the SV2.
From running at Worksop, and club meetings, I notice the following:
Both cars are very well built.
Reliability and durability, including some strength testing :woot: everything stayed together very well on both cars.
If you are to get the RB^, a couple of things to note:
One thing that broke fairly easily on the RB6 was the centre steering bellcrank, however exotek have an alloy upgrade for this. Also on the RB6, beware the thread on RCtech which shows a lot of RB6s having the back end of the chassis cave in under the transmission, as the chassis is very thin. With a finger on either side of the chassis at this point, you can flex this area of the chassis visably. This does not affect the rigidity of the chassis, but I fitted a home made skid plate to help prevent this from occuring.
the Kyosho shocks and the Schumacher shocks are both a dream to build and use.
Parts support.
The Schumacher has much better parts support where I race, and is one of the main reasons for switching to the SV2. Also, the SV2 spares were cheaper.
Handling on low grip:
Our club is a low grip surface. Both cars generate a lot more grip than my previous 2 2wd cars. Without playing around too much with setup, the nature of the standards cars is significantly different.
The RB6 was very pointy. Lots of steering even on the slippy stuff, you need to be wide awake to drive it, as it could be a little bit too twitchy, but like I said, I didn't have that much setup time to dial that out. One negative on the RB6 I had with the RB6 was the transition from slippy to high grip areas, the car would bite very aggressively on the front end and catch me out. My times tended to be slower over the 5 minutes, but with the odd fast lap in there.
The Cougar, in contrast has a lot of rear grip. It is very easy to drive a quick smooth race with it, and easier to race alongside other cars, as it isn't as twitchy. Consistently fast laps come easier, and my times over the 5 minute race were quicker.
I cannot comment on outdoor / astro handling, as I have not had the opportunity to drive the cars outdoor.
Setup help:
Plenty of team setups available, primarily on Inside Line Racing for the RB6 setups that I used from Kev Lee, and for the SV2, plenty of setups on Petit RC and Schumachers website.
Just my opinion...
Chris.
