View Full Version : K1 loads quicker than sx3???
Hi,
I've just raced a Cat K1 against my SX3 they both
Have nearly same setups.
The only difference is mine had a SP 5.5R and the Cat K1 had a Orion Vortex 5.5T.
The rest is exactly the same.
I did notice that the K1 has a 98 spur gear on and mine had a 82. But the SX3 only goes upto a 90 tooth.
The K1 was stupidly faster than mine and I just wondered if its down to the car or its the Gear setup?
Has anybody got any advice?
You would have to work out the final drive ration to really compare, but with running both, the K1's drivetrain feels a lot freer than the SX3, mainly due to there is a lot less rotating parts/belts.

The K1 does seem to accelerate quicker than a SX3 and seem to be a bit quicker. But without knowing what pinions your using it's hard to know what the difference could be. In general I've found that the K1 needs to use a smaller pinion than would be fitted to the SX3 to acheive the same gearing.
Cheers for replys.
Sx3 is using 82/20
K1 is using 98/20
Do you think it could be the motor difference?

I had a SP 5.5, It was pretty slow comparing to my Redline 5.5.
Ive had two SP, and they have always been slower than Redlines & X12's like for like in the same car.
They seem to lack punch, Although I thought they felt better in 2WD's

It also could be down to turbo/punch setting on the ESC.
I will check turbo/punch settings.
It does seem to be in a different league in a straight line
So may have to change the motor.
Thanks for advice

I have transfered two motor speedo combo's to a K1 from an SX3 even down to the same pinion and the K1 is much faster. No changes at all!

The internal ratios of the two cars are not the same and so using the same pinion would not be a like for like comparison.
