Hi all,
I have just built an Ansmann Mad Monkey, There are a couple of things I'm not sure about, the first is gearing, I have the Etronix Photon 10t which is about 3900kv, will the included 21t pinion be alright with this system? If not what gearing would be advisable? Also what parts should I look at upgrading? What am I likely to break?
Thanks in advance

the std pinion should be fine, just make sure your diff is bedded in nice and gentle and also your slipper is correct, as for upgrades it all depends on racing or bashing:thumbsup:

Thanks for that I will be racing mostly, how do I bed the diff in? I've not really used a ball diff so am not sure what exactly to do.

to bed the diff in tighten the slipper fully then turn the trim on your throttle up
then hold each rear wheel in turn for about 5 mins
you must make sure your diff is tight enough
but upgrades
idlers
shocks
and turnbuckles

+1 for shocks and idlers, i went with the alloy and nylon ones and touch wood they have held out so far with a 5.5t:woot:
you could get some front wishbones and shock tower, but its best just to get the basics first and then once a week just buy a spare, that way its not a big wack:thumbsup:

Tip for you which i have done. Is put the diff assembly in the other way round to the manual. That way the diff screw is on the same side as a B4 and wont unscrew. Mine used to do it all the bl00dy time which really annoyed me and since i swapped it round it hasnt.

Will this idler gear fit? Seems pretty good value.

The stock idler gears will be fine with your Etronix motor. They don't produce enough torque to strip the idlers, assuming you have the slipper set correctly.
Shocks are about the only things I would change to be honest and don't even bother with the stock tyres, save the rims for something better.
21t pinion is fine for that motor.
