View Full Version : Any news regarding an updated RB-5?
As there are some guys around who seem to be up to date about K's release schedule.
Might we expect an updated version of the Ultima including the new rear suspension and maybe with the steering issues fixed?
Although I am very eager to buy the D2, I might stay with Kyosho if I wouldn't have to collect the individual items but could buy a complete kit...

I have been informed that Kyosho will be bringing a kit out with the new rear end but i'm not sure when.. TBH i'm quite happy with the origional rear end on the tracks we race on here in the UK. However I will give the new rear end a go if AC brought a rear tower out for it..
What are the steering issues you mentioned?
A lack of steering; in Germany we are not allowed to solve this problem with spikes, Schumacher Stagger Rib are the most extreme tyres allowed on the front end. Thus Supergregs's need for the brass bulkhead...

Do you have your camber links set to kit?
I do not have a 2wd yet. I only had the opportunity once to drive Supergreg's Ultima (outdoors with an indoor setup). I was surprised about the way it felt, my last 2wd being a Cougar 2, which felt much more 'alive'. But Kai had some steering issues indoors as well. Highjumper's hints improved the issue, but apparently didn't completely solve the problem.
For that reason, I would like a (metric) 2wd buggy that has lots of - or at least enough- steering right out of the box. I just have to chose between the nice aluminum chassis D2 and the maybe more practical (as I have a Lazer) solution, the RB5...

Schumacher staggers only work on carpet and astroturf (Kunstrasen)
You want to try some Proline PL-8175M3 4-Ribs and then look here (http://www.petitrc.com/view_news.php?id=7889) for setups.
You could also try asking Olli Prüssmann next time you see him at a race. His RB5 is usually very quick but he uses the new rear end.
Viel Spaß
Thank you very much!
As I do not have a 2wd yet, I will forward your suggestion to Supergreg (and beg him to have a try with his Ultima without crashing it this time ).
Danke nochmal!

bummer:lol:tell you what i found,if you stick with 2b piston's with 10w asocoiated shock oil, silver spring's up front it would grip like f***:p
10wt oil?! :wtf: Won't the car be too bouncy with that? You could try some water as well...:p

You might want to mention you are running on dirt/clay... That would help with the setups
I thought everybody could see it in my avatar pic! :p

Mes - Any pictures of the track surface? We run on a hard dry clay track over here and I have more than enough steering on my RB5. We have been using Holeshot tires on the rear and any of the manufacturers 4 ribs on the front.
Quick front end set up:
2-B pistons
35wt losi oil
Orange springs
Shock shaft length: 20.5mm
Middle on tower
Outside on arm
2-2 camber link
0 spacers under ball stud
30 degree caster
no shim under bulkhead
axle height up
-1 degree camber
1 degree of toe out
Thank you very much for the setup! I will ask Supergreg to adjust his RB5 accordingly, as the surface sounds similar to our local track in Troisdorf (picture courtesy of Supergreg):

Yeah you can see our local track here: www.sidsraceway.com (lots of pics and videos of the track).
Also you can see the set up's I have been using here: http://johnnyboydotca.blogspot.com/

Thanks for discussing my car guys, but to be honest: said setup was just my carpet setup - as mes mentioned - and OF COURSE did not work on clay. I did not even try to make it a proper one, it was just in a rush to have one more car around than my 4wd.
If I ever make my RB5 run on clay, I will get back to your setup suggestions (probably with rear end v3.0 and front end 1.9 beta RC2 ;) )
@ johnnyboy: Nice track! A little too far away for me, though...;)
Is that you registered with a B4 ?!
@all: Thank you very much for your support, you nearly have convinced me to stay with Kyosho!
In case there will be a revised Ultima untill late October/before the D2 is released, I'll probably give it a try!
However, my next 2wd might be an Associated...In case an old buddy of mine is willing to sell his RC10 Team Car dirt cheap (I know how much work will be involved to get it running again...)
