All good reason to choose Novak

Now that Horizon have the Losi brushless, I presume they felt in a position they could drop LRP given good reason. Part of me wonders if Mirage will take on LRP seeing as they have Nosram, I suppose anything could happen, and presumptions are often wrong - mine are anyway.

What I do know is.... [see first line in this post]....

ask them to send it back to you and you send it to LRP directly?? I know it is a bummer, but if their contract is finished with LRP they have no legitimate reason to handle the product at all..... you can't blame Horizon (crikey, did I just say that???) for that?

Those of you being told your untits are chargeable will be ones that are not exchanged under warrnaty, they will either of been shorted, got wet, leads chopped off etc, those of you who are being opffered FREE Losi replacment's would be the units that are within the warrnaty restrictions.

The 25 year warranty ONLY applies IF you sent in your warranty card, the unti meets all the criteria and that is has never got soaked etc, if it has, you have NO WARRANTY

Horozon will only ask for money if your unit is not covered by warrnaty and indeeed will only give away a FREE one if it would have been covered. They are not in bsuiness to give stuff away nor are they in business to needlessly rip people off they are one of the fairest distributors out there (trust me I deal with or have dealt with them ALL)

On the front of Novak that Chris mentioned you find the service excatly the same, under warrnaty gets you a new exchange unit by return, outside warranty sees your unit shipped to the states for actual repair (if indeed it can be repaired) then your unit is gone for a few weeks too. As for Mirage and Nosram, dont go there, new units were re-designed at the factory altogether before repairs came back from them, they were dreadfully slow!!

Return it via the shop that you got it from, they will get it dealt with

Oh diddums, you won't get something for nothing - imagine my sympathy...

First off, your contract is not with Horizon, it is with the shop you bought the speedo from. If it is faulty, it is up to the shop to comply with the Law on replacement or repair. Secondly, if you did something that was your fault, you pay for the consequences. The full details of the long warranty are in the box, and if you didn't comply, tough.

Since there is evidence that Horizon are continuing to honour the long warranty, despite not being able to pass that cost on to LRP, and that they offered you a discount for replacing your speedo, any reasonable lawyer would conclude that your post above is libelous. Horizon are kinder than you think - if that had been my company, you'd have a letter from my lawyer in this morning's mail!

If your definition of good service is always to replace or repair things free, then you're not going to like anyone in the model trade eventually!! Big Air, your treatment of Horizon is unfair, and unreasonable. Maybe your avatar is a clue - you're still living in the 1970s!! :D

Horizon are not continuing to honouring the warranty Bens was sent of over six weeks ago :p My definition of a good service is to have it fixed or replaced under warranty conditions which my speedo was under.
After having a long chat with Horizon Hobby last week about my speedo i was told to send it of in the post and they would get it sorted, There was No mention of splitting with LRP the first i heard was on here:(
For the money we pay for speedos etc i would expect LRP to be on the ball when its comes down to service from which im told they are not and that is the main split. Not going to like anyone in the Model Trade you may have something there. I work in the motor trade and use snap on tools yes i pay a premium but there warranty is excellent if something fails they will replace it. The chat i had with Horizon suggest lrp are not like this. They like to drag there feet,
As for living in the 70's right on baby :p

My original question regarding the importer was because I had the same response as others from Horizon. Wait for another importer or send to LRP. They did offer me a Losi speedo. I havent asked how much yet.

What you're both expecting is beyond what's reasonable, and certainly beyond any legal obligation Horizon have to you - good luck with that.

Er... whose lawyer...?

My lawyer, for me. That's the Law. The contract for sale of your goods is with the shop, not the distributor. The shop is responsible for the quality of goods sold, not the distributor. It's the Law of this Land!!

If someone isn't aware of the Law, shame on them, not shame on the distributor. Life isn't fair, and it is typical that people find someone to blame when things go wrong and they don't follow the procedure. Despite the evidence that Horizon are honouring the warranty, that they no longer have an LRP product available to them to replace his speedo with, and that they have made him the same offer they would have made if they had an LRP speedo (part exchange) he slags them off!! Unbelievable...

Yes we had a call from Jamie during last week confirming what we had been told that SMD were to take over from Horizon. As the announcemnet confirms also they will be handling all of the warranty repairs etc from both the units they sell themselves AND the ones already sold via Horizon. With this decison in mind we have decided to continue stocking LRP products (since whilst we were not sure who was taking it on, we could not be sure if we would still get a good supply of products with a quality back up) but now that SMD have been appointed we have every faith in Jamie and his crew, hence LRP will still be on our shelves for the foreseeable future. On top of that we will also be doing the newer LRP items that Jamie is bringing in (ones that Horizon did not make available) including the nitro buggy and 1/18th micro trucks/buggies etc (which are VERY popular)

(We will also be taking this oppurtunity to add J Concepts, Jammin, JQ, Hong Nor and GO products to our line up too, which we have not stocked up until now)

Whilst on the topic of LRP we do have a large selction of items which we have acquired from Horizon that we have placed on special offer, including batteries, esc's, LIPO's, brushless motors, power supplies and much more. They are all on our website in the LRP section at the moment at some very tasty prices for a limited time, these of course will revert back to normal once this stock runs out and we replenish our shelves from SMD
