Would anyone be interested in a rtr challenge.

2WD only.
Must arrive at the track UNOPENED and factory sealed.
No mods!.
No spares for first round. (Round 2)
Repairs at track only.
End of race day - sealed in box until next meeting.
Same kit tyres for the season.
You may change setups during race day only.
Only permissable change is RX to accommodate your own tx. (Unfair for stickies to have to use wheels)
Regional rounds only!
If you cheat - car gets given away in free raffle!

I don't mean it as a seperate class. Entering the 2WD as normal, but an agreement between a couple of people that we run to a strict budget. No trophies, no chance of championship, just kudos ;)

i was thinking aloud.

It was the price of them that made me think about it. ;)

Would need to be someone doing the 4 or SC, partially sighted, missing a hand maybe. Maybe the Don. At least you wouldn't have to build it

I see.

I do remember running stock and modified together at Eastrax and made for a few spectacular smashes on the straight due to speed differences. Particularly when you had a less experienced racer running a modified car.

At the risk of causing more caos we could just run the regional series to stock rules and a control tire. That would cut costs for everyone!

I'd be seeded uber low - in fact bottom. I doubt my qualifying would be all that either. Do you think it could still be a problem? It's mostly curiosity to see how far off an rtr is from comparible drivers, but to keep my interest have another rtr to qualy and hopefully race against.

To be fair ben use a b4 as a example its a good car with reasonable electronics with a good driver theres no reason why it couldnt be reasonably quick if i had the funds i would be up for it ..........how about a 4wd blinky class

The RTR stuff I have seen at NBC and else where has always been pretty competitive with the competition stuff. Put in a faster motor and unless your someone like Neil Cragg I doubt many of us would be able to tell the difference until you hit something as they tend to be made from cheaper materials that don't have the strength or longevity.

I can see where you are coming from and I think if people stayed away from the RTR stuff like TLR, Associated and Durango it could be a worth while exercise.

The seeding is a strange one, as you know to give way to faster drivers so could go in your appropriate F Grading heat. That may be better than putting stock competitors in a novice heat where their reactions aren't so quick to avoid a slower car in a straight line. No idea which is best on that one.

As I mentioned Eastrax did run their first winter series to 19turn stock rules with a sole control tire and it attracted more drivers than when it was run to modified rules. Made for some much closer racing to as we all tended to drive more consistently.
