View Full Version : Spektrum telemetry and FASST?

Can I use this product http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/Support.aspx?ProdID=SPM1300#manuals together with my Futaba FASST transmitter and receiver?

If not, is Futaba due to release something similar?

(I'm finished with Spektrum receivers)

Any help is highly appreciated! :thumbsup:

I severely doubt it would work because it is Spektrum-specific. It doesn't even work with the Spektrum micro receiver, so I'm pretty sure it won't work with the Futaba receiver.

Are you allowed to use it in Sweden??? It's banned in Germany during races.

As far as I know EFRA rules allow passive (not active) telemetry?

Better check accurately...

Edit: In any case you can use it during practise.

Oh crap, my usual mistake :blush:

The german federation defines it as the car not being allowed to transmit signals, so even DSM was iffy as the transmitter and receiver communicate...

Have a look at Novak's Sentry Data Logger

It doesn't transmit back telemetry, but it is all stored on the car.

All I was interested in was seeing the motor temperature myself from the rostrum. I also like the feature of the Spektrum where you can set an alarm treshold so that it starts to vibrate if the motor overheats.

so your motor gets hot! would you pull off if you were on your ftd run?

the temp of the motor i would say will be hottest at the end of the run?

Well, I race 1:8 TR. Once up to working temperature after approx. 6 laps it should stay constant. It's more of a safety measure.

If your muffler gasket goes, dent/broken muffler, main needle rotates, lost 2nd gear etc... temperature may be affected. You could then at least adjust it at the next pit stop in order to finish the race.

For practise it would be great, especially if you don't have a mechanic.

i run 200mm and 235 and know that in a long final the temp goes up as the chasis heat soaks and gets to a point where it cannot disipate heat as much, not tried 8th but have just got a car to run so ill try it

Hmmm... well, who knows? Might be right. IMHO as long as you don't have any technical issues I would rather think that it is caused by the tires getting smaller and hence the revs go up...

I've driven 12 full seasons of 1:8 TR and have never experienced a temperature rise towards the end as long as everything is ok. Then again these cars are fast and get a lot of cooling compared to the family sedan cars :p

rubber tyres = same diameter.

mind you 8th have the engine in the air flow, ours are saloons so enclosed, could be where the difference is.
