Hi, I'm planning to get a new motor for my XB4 next week, I've narrowed it down to the LRP X20 or the Thunder Power Z3R, in either 6.5 or 7.5, any help or recommendations will be gratefully received

New Orion VST2 motors are awesome. Really smooth and brilliant power. I'd recommend one of those.

I've always raced LRP X12's in touring and offroad. Still using in touring. I've just started my first season with the new TEKIN 6.5 GEN2 motor. It does the job. Slap a 20t pinion for outdoors and 19t for indoors. Easy peasy and throw some boost in if you like. A little does the trick.

But really, any BRCA approved motor is good! I just liked the look of the new TEKIN Gen2 motors!

I have to say that after the VST1 7.5T I went and bought the VST2 6.5T because VST1 didn't have enough power.
Now I don't need to have any turbo for the straight and other R10 Pro settings are very mild. It has even a bit too much power for me, maybe would do better lap times with 7.5T VST2. Gearing 20/81 and this is on clay track with JC DD.

The rotor isn't same anymore because sensor port bearing is different size. 12,25/4,8mm was what I measured.

Am biased as sponsored by them but you wont go wrong with hpi motors at all. Run nice and cool fully adjustable and cheaper than most. Also more than good enough to make nearly every national A final this year between myself and the rest of the team. Also a complete range of rotors motor internal fans etc etc so u can really tune the motor as to how you want it as well as the advice needed on that from the team.

I went for a LRP X20 7.5t in the end, also got a 23t and 24t pinion to try it with as well
