Do you guys who race use an undertray outdoors?
I just got a Lazer SP and I'm a bit worried since the chassie for some reason got a hole under the motor.
Won't gravel and dirt easily find its way in and eat up the pinion and spur gear?

You don't really need the undertray. Most of the people at my club including myself prefer to have the additional cooling you get when not running the undertray.
Spur gears are more likely to get chewed up if stones and stuff can't exit the car properly, so running an undertray is not always that good...

I usually put tape over the spur hole and run without.

I have never seen any of the Lazers at Southport using an undertray and I have certainly never fitted one. I will tape up the underside if it is very wet but other than that I leave it as it is and have never had a problem.:D

I run an undertray, just because I am lazy and dont want to clean the chassis. If the gearing is right I dont see there being a problem with overheating, plus use the air scoops on the shell so air can circulate.

Depends if you're running brushless or not. 4WD + modern brushed motors+ 4600 cells = hot motor regardless of whether it's geared right - the Lazer doesn't exactly have the greatest motor mount for thermal dissipation Most guys I know running other cars with flat C/F chassis's & an undertray end up cutting away it away around the motor. I ran a BX like that for 2 winters - nothing much gets in.

I forgot about the mount. yup point taken.

Thanks for the input guys!

A "sub question".
For those who don't use an undertray do you use the original bodypins to attatch the body, or do you use velcro on the sides of the chassie?

I found an undertray for the Lazer at TheToyz, been running with it for a while now using velcro on the sides for a snug fit of the body, so snug that my system is having a hard time to breathe actually :)
Anyways, the undertray is starting to get cracks here and there, so the lexan was quite thin.
So now I'm considering removing it
