Was thinking of coming down for this, would I be OK to run the ZX-5 with Hobbywing Electrics and Turnigy batteries?

Hi

Yes, as long as the batteries are hardcase, then all ok. It is only at regionals and other BRCA sanctioned events like the EOS F2/Vets/Juniors in Sept that the batteries need to be on the BRCA list.

We are running control tyres though - either Schumacher or Ballastic mini-spikes in any compound on rear axle. Can see why anyone would want to run anything else anyway!!

Hope to see you there.

So looking forward to this meeting, seems ages since we've had a super sunny relaxed all day meeting at Torch.
Sign me up for both classes as usual, hope my partner in crime is joining me?

How else is up for some summer fun this weekend?

Cheers,
James.

Evening all

I'm looking forward to getting some racing in at torch this Sunday after being at so many regionals and nationals, will be good to get some torch action.

Weather is looking favourable and we can look forward to seeing Grant Fribbens usual shorts to blind us all

With some more track work Saturday improving facilities and making the venue better bit by bit

Usual meeting with top 3 prizes for all finals and trophies for top 2 in juniors, hopefully see some more youngsters come this Sunday with the build up to the F2's, vets and juniors in August/September.

I see there is a bit of interest in trucks this Sunday, so if your interested and we can get 6+ attending we will run a heat.

Looking forward to seeing you all

Post if your coming :-)

Now the dust has settled a bit and subject to getting enough time to prep before the weekend (and find everything amongst the chaos) I should be there. It's been so long can't remember which way to hold the transmitter :D

Currently looking like 20 degrees and sunny all day

Normal TORCH Summer Series format of as much racing as we can get into the day so hopefully 4 qualifying rounds plus 3 finals for all:thumbsup::thumbsup:

No excuses, tell your family you have to work and come racing. You'll only regret it otherwise:D

I shall be there (thanks this weekend to Richard Roberts chauffeuring services:lol:). 2wd with the Cougar I think, could be tempted to patch up the Lazer and double class it, but really I'm getting to old for that kind of madness.

Should be a cracker anyways round, especially with the track being in the best form ever at the moment. Bring it on!

Hi Robin

Think it will only be Steve selling tyres/inserts.

However I am 99% sure the SV2 servo horn is the same on the K1 so I'll either have a spare one or have one on my car you can borrow for the day depending on what servo you are running. I'm running 2WD so won't need it on Sunday.

Forgot to ask:

1) What time will the meeting start, and what time is best to arrive?

2) How many rounds of qualifying, and will there be multi-leg finals (so I know how many LiPos to charge)?

Forgot to ask:

1) What time will the meeting start, and what time is best to arrive?

2) How many rounds of qualifying, and will there be multi-leg finals (so I know how many LiPos to charge)?

Most people tend to arrive by around 8.00ish.

Format is generally:

Track open for free practice from 8.00 until around 9.15.
Booking in until about 9.00.
Drivers briefing at 9.15
First heat at 9.30

Four rounds of qualifying (round by round, best 2 to count) and usually three legged finals for all.

We have always managed 3 legged finals in summer series before and I could only see this not happening due to either bad weather or too many drivers to allow a sensible finishing time.

Cheers

Hi Guys. Thanks once again to the TORCH crew for putting on a first class meeting.
Thanks also to Matt Owen for his commentary skills.
I have to say that I can't remember ever struggling so much as I did today.
Several reasons that I won't expand on here. However, some were car related, and others, more obviously, driver skills.
Some cars suit some drivers, and others it seems do not.
However, I must extend my gratitude especially to Al for his words of advice. It made an instant impact. Also to Steve B. for his help and words of encouragement as usual. Rob Forbes, pity we could not programme the esc. I will try and sort that for my next time out. The weather was good, albeit a little breezy.
See you all next time, provided my testing on Wednesday sees some improvement.

Ruining you mean :woot: Steve and Mikey did 99.9%, happy to help.

Seriously though, I often say how good this club is and today reaffirmed my reasons. The lengths the chaps at TORCH go to to encourage new blood in to the sport despite age is exceptional. I had a loverly chap come and have a chat who is just starting out in his 60's who said part of the reason is because of the welcome he received from this club! How frickin awesome is that, good luck to him!

Thank you for a great day, well worth every minute of the 14 hour day

Lastly, 4th visit for me and great improvements every time to an already first class venue/track. Nice fence work ;)

Had an excellent day today from start to finish.

I spent all day Saturday indoors, missed the wall-to-wall sunshine to rebuild my diffs and do a load of soldering/preparation but it's worth every minute spent when you know the car will be reliable on race day.

Thanks to all involved for a great day's racing, hope it stays dry on Wednesday so I can try the legendary one-way front drive unit!

Yeah a big thanks again to the Torch crew on another cracking Summer Series round. Great fun, and nice layout too. Shame the number's could have been higher, but it was a fantastic meeting non the less. And some great driving all round!

Big props to Matt Owen for the commentary on the A-4WD Finals, always makes the racing better with some commentary. And for his very kind gesture giving his winning's to a young upcoming racer!

Great day out and already looking forward to round 3!

Any idea when the results/pictures will be up at all chaps?

Another great days racing at Torch, great weather, racing and company. Really love driving this track, nice mix of slow and fast corners and features.
Good fun with the tussles in the finals as well with Chris and Lionel, think I need to learn to calm it down a bit when under pressure then would of had more fun in legs 2 and 3.

Thanks to Mat Owen for the commentary, James Barker for the tips and all for the great friendly banter.

Finally, some pictures, you'll have to excuse me if they're a bit crap, I'm only a beginner.

What are you talking about - they look awesome although I find the Jamie K one a little scary!

Lionel soe good pics there.

As said some good clean racing all day shame that I didn't get going as normal till the finals or could have quallified better, but then would have missed out on some good 3 way battles in the finals?

Looks like another XB4 on it's way to TORCH after Mikey's test drive in his last final?

Excellent photos Lionel. Not sure what's going on with the Kerminator, he seems to have come over all 'Hello Sailor' on us:lol:

Had a cracking day, good banter with everyone, and a big thanks to Glen W for the set up tips. Car was so much better in the final after a massive change to the rear end, starting to work out what it should feel like now.

Finally, have to say a huge thanks to Rich Roberts for driving me around yesterday; big thanks buddy, and it gave Paul B a week off from my incesant rambling in the car:lol:

Couple of weeks off now, but really looking forward to getting back in July. Track is awesome right now, best it's ever been I think.

and

Get well soon Cammers!

Not sure how but I seem to be entered twice on the results.

I think this may have some bearing with me being listed twice on the system.
It appears that my first round only found me only doing 1 lap. On having a word with Steve he said my transponder had not been set to me.
I know from previous booking in, that 1 entry on the system has my transponder number and the other doesn't.

Perhaps someone can put this right.

If the PT hadn't been assigned it would show 0 laps.

Please come and see me next time re PT position and can also see signal strength via timing kit.

I'm also interested to know what RX you are running etc.

Mikey Bernard s running a spektrum 3100 RX.
Bernard if timing gear as Mikey says no laps would show!
Unfortuately it is ddown to the driver to check their PT number is correct and working, also all PT are checked during the warm up laps, possibly your wiring was dislodged when we removed it to bind to my transmitter on sunday?

I did check wiring, everything seemed okay, it was SteveB that said it hadn't been assigned, I am not worried that one qualifier was not counted, everything was okay after the first run. Was more concerned that I seemed to have a twin on the results board. That has now been corrected.

My radio returned today all fixed so am looking forward to tomorrow night if weather stays dry, looks very doubtful. Otherwise see you all Sunday.

Car has been stripped new diff oils, steering servo saver screw has been threadlocked so hopefully wont loose steering.

Race report on our blog:

http://blog.torchracing.co.uk/

Next time I'll try and take some notes about what really happened as the memory is starting to fail.

If anyone has anything they would like to share - maybe a new car or modification or set-up idea - please let me know and I'd be glad to add them to a future blog
