Gear Ratio Help

Wondered if someone could point me in the right direction.

Ive just bought a sv2 second hand. Its got a 83 tooth to 23 pinion. Which on the chart in the manual is 9.32

Ive got a speed passion 13.5 turn v3 competition motor, according to the chart i should be aiming for between 4.8 to 6.0

This means i would be running a 32 pinion and 76 main gear which would give me a 6.13

should i do this or can i get away with the current gearing of 83 to 23????

Hi,

4.8 to 6.0 sounds more like a Ratio for a Touring Car. For a 13.5 i'd use something like 7.5-8 ,depending on the Track.

With my Cougar an Shorty pack i went with 25/76 with LRP X12 13.5T Blinky on a thight Carpet Track. It needed a cooler , but was as fast as the modi Guys on that track (except on the one long straight). But i think x12 has more power than SP, but less rpm.
