have a similar thing on my garage door. the previous owners fitted it as there was a series of garage raids in our road several years back.
Never had a problem since

I think it would actually be more effective to supply the garage door handle with 240V but i dont think the little one would remember when she goes to get her bike out :woot:

At least that way you get to give them a good kicking when you find them laid on your drive when you return home from work

I did but it turns out the newer garage door locks have spring loaded things in the lock so with a worn key and a wiggle and a tap they can get in which is what the police said happened to mine.

It says you have to get the built in base unit if you have a tarmac drive, so basically i have to sink an anchor into the ground.

If i remember ill check for bit sizes in work tommorrow. pretty sure an SDS bit will do it but they wont come in 73mm - there are other types which ill try find the name for which I know do go to that size.

Or a proper security system could be a good idea. Might be more expensive but will be audible to your neighbours and you insurance will go down.

get yerself an ip camera and just watch your garage from work in a little live window - then you can call the rozzers yourself!

If you get an IP camera you could have it on an ethernet home plug system directly into your garage or wherever, then setupt he software to record on movement.

hire a disk cutter, cut a neat square in your tarmac, till you get through the tarmac, few inches or so.

The hole is best to taper it outwards too, so if they try to yank out the lock, it will be much MUCH harder.

you could also rig up some rebar steel on the base so that it is tied into the conrete far better to.

But after having owned and had stolen, many a motorbike, if they want it, they will have it, so in the end, the system you use has got to be easy and not to inconvenient.

They would most likely just cut a lock shaped hole out of the garage....unless it's a nice thick wooden one.
