Just had a prop snap in flight :(

Thankfully I was low and no damage to the quad.

Thing is - I bought (from Hobbyking) their own prop set (8045) which are around £1.60 for a set of 4!

I also bought some Turnigy Slow Fly 8x4.5 props - but they are so badly out of balance I need to run Sellotape along the entire surface of one side - so not keen on using them.

So....

I don't want Graupner's right now as they are expensive. Is there anything that's middle ground - i.e not pence, but not mega bucks. Just want something to give me confidence now i'm flying it more aggressively.

Ouch!
I too run those props (in 10x4.5) and always assumed they were too flexible to snap.

Gemfans are supposed to be good middleground, but the next question is which compound to choose... have a look at the selection here: http://www.gravesrc.com/category_s/946.htm

Don't know anything about that site, it was the first that google threw up.

That's a bummer Andy, good job it wasn't over people and property!

I've head the HW prop's do snap.

Graupner Elektro props are the way to go, but not cheap as Col has mentioned. I got mine from http://www.gliders.uk.com/products.asp?dept=213
Good service, arrived next day with free delivery, although I did buy 11 pairs in one go! Looks like they have the 8x5's in stock, ideal for your F330.

I've also heard that APC pros are good.

Is that for just 1 prop, or 1 pair?

Yes one prop. you need to get the left hand one to make a pair: http://www.gliders.uk.com/prodinfo.asp?number=G1326%2E10X5L

I got them for £6.50 per prop, as I bought 22 props in one go. Only 4 pairs were for me however, the rest were to replace Jimmy's breakages ;-)

They are not cheap, but reputed to be the best available, and won't break in flight.
