Pretty sure it is electric - resistor speed controller on rear pod.

got to be electric, has old type wire resistor speedo.

could even be an early 12th car

Looks like an AYK. Circa late 1970s early 80's. Speedo mount looks home made.

Afaik not a Tamiya going by the front bumper: I don't recall Tamiya having metal bumpers with these girder structure-type holes punched in them :p
