The old girl want to come out of retirement for one last swansong and I can't find any blasted spares. If anyone can help, please contact me, I'm after any spares, or if not, if anyone has one, just a template for the shock towers would be great.
Many thanks

Cant really help you there , but i was being nosey as i used to race one back in the early nineties.
I bought a carbon rear tower off fibre lyte which i promptly broke so i resorted to a nice alloy one .
It was a great car and i enjoyed every minute of it.

Whereabouts you based, I have one to copy from, I don't think there's spare towers though, well it's an Adonis, but same parts?

Fibrelyte will still make you one, give them a call

Thanks for your replies guys, I used to love the car, simple but worked really well straight out of the box. I'm thinking maybe the answer is if I could get a template then I could either go to fibrelite, or alternatively just get a local workshop to knock one up in aluminium, then at least if i roll it again it probably won't snap!
So Mr timbo, I'm pretty sure the Adonis is essentially the same car, just with one or two mior differences. i don't suppose you could just draw round your shock towers and then scan and email it to me? I know it's a bit of a mither so if you don't want to I understand. I'm based in Stockport, South of Manchester.
Thanks again.

Well I am in the storeroom this week, as we are bashing on Sunday in Redditch, If I come across the box, I will take it home, then see if there might be some spares to save stripping the car, could give scoobster a PM as well, as he may have something left.
There are a lot of NIP spares in there bumpers lightweight CVDs etc:thumbsup:

Right she is here in front of me, now mine has all alloy chassis top deck towers etc as you can see, but there's a numbered bag in the box with a CC set of parts to replace all the chassis alloy, but not the towers.
Was the rear in two parts, I have one floating part, and a matching pair on a parts sprue
:eh?:

These are the wing mount, not shock mounts.
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l89/purpletimbo/IMG_1522.jpg
The easy option is to contact Fibre-lyte, if they have ever produced a part in the past it is likely to still be in their database so easy for them to make them again. If they don't still have them on file you can produce the DXF file they can use to make some more, if you haven't got access to a CAD program then they will charge more to draw it out for you.
If you can get a drawing of them I can reproduce them in fibreglass sheet for you and I might have some Tomy spares somewhere but I do know I haven't got any shock mounts. I'm in Stockport as well so we can be sure my shock mounts will fit.

Well on close inspection my front one is slightly bent, so a strip down is on the cards, maybe a scan to scale for fibrelyte replacements, or just alloy as mine are maybe?
wing mounts makes perfect sense, as mine has never been a buggy, it has a pan car shell and wheels, no manual unfortunately, but all the parts bags are numbered.

Thanks again guys. Purple, don't go to the trouble of stripdown yet, I'll contact Fibre-Lyte and see what they say as Terry suggested.
Terry, did you use to work with Derek in Stockport Model Shop years ago and go racing at Cheadle Drill Hall, I used to go there when I was a wee nipper! Thanks for your offer on the fibreglass replacement, I do have access to AutoCAD so can draw in DXF format. I am thinking now I could butcher a template out of paper/card and then draw it up on CAD from that, then either get it done in fibreglass or aluminium. Terry if you do have any other bits it'd be of interest as I am thinking of trying to race it next season rather than shelve it as an ornament, to see if I can give these upstarts with their B44's a run for their money! :D
Things are looking up, cheers for your trouble guys.

Just a pity the CC chassis bag didn't have towers in, I wonder if he broke em and went back to alloy, it is all alloy on the box art.

I'm now running the club which is still at Cheadle Drill Hall and it's still running on Thursday nights. This might bring back some memories http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsNQoqizGUE

I do have some spares somewhere, I found out Trevor had some and got them before he closed down in case I broke something running my Xpress Striker (look familiar?)

I know a lot of the suspension parts are for the original Intruder, with short wishbones, not sure if I have any spare long wishbone parts from the Adonis and EX. They are buried somewhere with all my other parts, I'll have to see if I can find them.

Purple, he probably rolled it and trashed them like i did! :(
Terry, the car looks almost identical, on the face of it it just looks like shorter rear shocks and shock mounts. Different spur gear, mines original red plastic item. By the way, were they .6 module or 48dp, I couldn't find it anywhere in the instruction manual?
You're not that old, probably only a couple of years older than me, I just remembered 'a Terry' that worked with Derek and when you mentioned Stockport Model Car Club I just thought it may be the same person. I started racing in about 84ish (I was 10) with a Tamiya Pajero down at Cheadle and Woodford and managed to somehow get it round ok (with bath sealant on the tyres!:D) despite a ridiculously high centre of gravity! Not like those cars seem to be going round on that video, they look really quick, are they 12th scale? I remember Cheadle with Derek on the mike and his little phrases "Buggy drivers group 2, this one's for you" etc! :D
I'll have to pop down to Cheadle and have a look and also introduce myself.
Once again, much appreciated with all the advice/help on the Tomy.
Cheers

I just remebered, I picked up a NIP set of shocks somewhere, and a chassis for spares with arms and such, I wonder if it had towers, must find it again lol
And I do have one NIP shell undertray and decal set

Different spur gear, mines original red plastic item. By the way, were they .6 module or 48dp, I couldn't find it anywhere in the instruction manual? It's a standard fitment spur gear, so 48dp. With mine being made for on road it has a 64dp spur.
Not like those cars seem to be going round on that video, they look really quick, are they 12th scale?Almost right, those are 1/10th scale pan cars (so bigger versions of 1/12th scale) and a touring car. The carpet makes a lot of difference to the grip, it's a lot easier to get around these days. Every so often I suggest leaving the carpet in the store room and racing on the polished wood, but no one seems to want that.
I remember Cheadle with Derek on the mike and his little phrases "Buggy drivers group 2, this one's for you" etc! :Dyeah, I remember those:blush: He packed in running the club in 92, a few years later he was running line dancing classes, probably more suited to his frustrated DJ style on the mike:D

..well it only took a year but i found a pair of shock towers thanks to a generous soul on here. I'm going to do a template on CAD based on the aluminium ones so that Fibrelyte or similar will have a template if anyone wants to buy some carbon fibre repros.
I Could just do with a new shell and wing now and she's almost ready to run, just need to find some vintage meets.
Not sure if my Fabbiix batteries will still cut the mustard, or even charge for that matter but I'm going to try and do it properly old skool and not put lipos in, that'd way too easy!!
If anyone out there knows where I could get a shell please let me know.

Wasn't there a fully tricked up version of the intruder by Classic models? I always wanted one of those, but made do with my Lazer ZX in the end.

I got out of the sport in about '91 or '92 so not entirely sure but I believe mine is the original Intruder, and that there was a budget model called 'Adonis' and a hopped up model called the Intruder EX... I think. Mine had FRP shock towers originally but I snapped them.

Think Tomy developed the car then sold it on...
I tried to restore one a few months back, but had a nightmare trying to source bits and gave up. (bought an old Cat XLS instead :))
There has been a few through ebay recently, paid £42 for a complete RTR car, but finding a good shell was a nighmare!

Hello all! My first post on here. I just typed Tomy Intruder into Google to see what would come up. Just wanted to see if there was anything online about it for a wee trip down memory lane.
And here we are!
Anyway, Classic Models sure did do a super tricked out version of the Intruder. I raced one of the first ones in the country throughout a full Scottish Championship season. I can't remember which year it was, but I do remember getting the micky taken by my fellow racers at the time.
'What in the world is that?'
'It's a Tomy Intruder.'
'A TOMY!!??'
'Yup.'
'But they make toys...'etc etc.
They ribbed me for about as long as it took me to pop it on the track and do a few laps.... Different story then....
The Tomy was a fabulous looking car, fast, stable and pretty reliable.
Geoff, at Classic, then got his hands on all these amazing anodised alloy hop up parts from Taiwan (I think). I didn't use all the parts available, but, as you can see from the photos, I used a few.
Fantastic car. Fond memories.
Jimmy
