Well,
I think its always a decision to make depending on grip on the day.
As a rule safest bet for Astro is mid motor. If you run on the dirt track the I would go rear motor.
However there could always be the rare occasion where dirt becomes grippy and mid motor would work well and same for astro if it got wet the rear motor would be good!

Mid motor for RHR, TM2 style cars are also very good round the astro track. Its a nice smooth, flowing layout for 2wd so a car that will carry more corner speed (ie mid motor) will be the best bet.
A lot of the sand has been removed so its a lot less slippery than it used to be. We are going to re-astro the track just for your info but of course that won't be done by the weekend!

Follow up to the sand question can I ask at what angle and depth are each individual fibre of astro turf?

How much sand has been taken out? I would estimate just under 2 tonnes since it was first laid.
We've not gone crazy on the current astro as its going to be replaced. The new stuff is very similar to Broxtowe club's astro.
Personally though although our track is a little patchworky at the minute I think its driving really well right now :)
