Does anyone have any knowledge of the best type of solder to use for wiring up ESCs?

The solder I have been using recently is lead free, but it doesn't seem to be as easy to use as solder I have used in the past, which I'm guessing was either 60/40 or 63/37.
And I have had some trouble with joints getting hot when in use in the car.

I've done some reading up on 60/40, 63/37 and lead free solder but would like some specific advise relating to this application.

Which is easiest to use?
Which gives the best (most conductive) joints?

Thanks.

think what i have is leaded 63/37 ratio works fine for me.
There is a muchmore silver solder http://www.muchmoreracing.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_16&products_id=573
Never used it myself.

Lead free needs too much heat.
Stick with 63/37 rosin core.

I swear by Savbit multicore solder. I've tried the silver stuff from Maplins but the savbit is much easier to use IMO - just melts and flows easier. I've struggled to get the maplins stuff to melt trackside on a cool day (using either generic 12v or Tamiya 7.2v irons).

Best stuff I've used so far is this.....

I've tried my dads old leaded solder (20+ yrs old) and both of maplins solder and a from a few different DIY/Electrical stores but never had much luck, even after buying a new soldering iron, this was by far the best......;)

Tin lead 63/37 Rosin core is what you need, a good 40 watt iron with a clean flat chisel tip is important so the heat is transfered correctly and quickly.

Check out this video, it will help if you are not confident soldering. This works for all RC soldering not just connectors

Are there any shops that stock 63/37 rosin core solder?
I know I can get it online but I need to get some today ideally.

Thanks for all the replies.

Something that's really helped me with soldering lately is using a brillo pad to clean the iron, just get it wet to activate the pink soap and shove it into a jam jar lid.

It doesn't seem to matter how hot the iron is, it just keeps making it shiny again and again, not like the pathetic little bit of foam you get with most soldering irons which you have to keep rinsing out after every couple of solder joints.
