Turnigy 9X rx telemetry blah

hi chaps,
After having a quick 10 minutes play with a hubsan 4X wotsit I found myself on ebay buying quad stuff. So ive got a KK2 on the way and esc etc. I already have a 9X for my trex 450 airwolf model. I need a new rx for this quad thing, but I see there are telemetry thingies. what do these do? do I need one? which rx is suitable for the standard turnigy transmitter module? I've got open TX firmware on the 9X. so how confused am I now?

These will get you going and no need to upgrade at a later date!
The tx module has 100mw of power and the rx will do s-bus for future if need be (naza etc...)

I wouldnt waste your money on anything else to be honest, the fr sky stuff is proven to be rock solid.

Those are the ones that I have, although I don't use the telemetry.
My telemetry receiver is damaged so has been replaced with the std one.

You need (I think?) a separate unit to display the data, or hack the 9x.

Hi Guys cheers for response,
What data is the telemetry capable of sending? and how much use is it to someone with their first Quad. I can imagine my quad being used for fun flying and tricks that I can't do with my Trex 450 (and thats pilot ability not the helis) I can fly around and not crash it, and it does not self level so a stable hover takes a bit of input from the pilot. I wouldn't dare do flips as if you get that wrong the repair bill is astronomical!
Im rambling again... telemetry... what does it do for me? can I just chuck in a std turnigy 9X 8ch reciever and fly it with the appropriate setting on tx and kk?

Still loads of time to wait for the slow boat from China to get here, so I will almost certainly have another plan by the time it rocks up ;)

Even as I've typed this my mind is changing... my 9X is already hacked although I havn't done the telemetry mod yet. maybe it one of those just because we can and it cool mods? in which case it does sound fun....Oh here goes some more cash.
