Hi Guys,
I am thinking to get a new Ultima R52. My objective - have fun and not racing or competition!
which one should I go for? Which brushless will give the power? :)

any 10th scale brushless system lower than 4.5 turns will be stupid fast enough for fun.
but I think the 'HV' novak system is bigger and suited to 8th scale and monster truck??? - though I may be wrong.

Thanks.. Possible to run this RB5 more than 6 Cells? I am aware it only can fit in 6 cells battery .. just wondering .. anyone ever try to do that
Because for the Novak HV brushless 4.5.. the motor can cope more than 14 V .. or more than 6 cells :)

seriously.... a 3.0T brushless motor even on 4 cells would be so fast its just not funny in a 2WD car.

why would u want to run > 6 cells?
is it for high capacity? if so .. just get a high capacity lipo pack. you can get 8000 or 10000 mah ones from maxamp.
if you want to have fun and not racing, then the novak xbr series with 13.5 or 10.5 is more than sufficient. even the lrp eraser series will do.

:eh?:.. Novak GTB 3.5 is far faster and powerful than XBR series...:o. I think 6 Cell (Elite 5000 SC) +Novak GTB 3.5 enough to put the RB5 flying ....

:(.. Ya .. I am kind of headache now because for 2WD might be too fast and hard to drive ... or it would be better for 4WD? I mean Lazer 4WD + 6 Cells (Elite 5000 SC) +Novak GTB 3.5..
Friends told me it will be crazy to drive a 2WD RB5 with 6 Cells (Elite 5000 SC) +Novak GTB 3.5

a 3.5 motor will be a handful for a novice, in both 4wd and 2wd.
certainly not easy to control and in the case of 2wd, will be wheely-ing down the straight.
but if all you care about is getting the "fastest" or "most powerful" .. then i guess it doesn't matter?

I had my 4.5 in my 4WD buggy last winter and it as stupidly fast. Seriously in a 2WD a 4.5 will be so quick you won't believe it.

Please correct me if I am wrong. :)
I guess NOVAK GTB 3.5 in 2WD must hard to control? am I right ?Because the front wheels (front chassis) will be floating when it is too fast ... If I add some chassis weights in the front .. do you think is gonna help the driving ?
Whereas for the 4WD .. at least 4 wheels are spinning and that will help ?

the 3.0 brushless and some nitrotouring foams and a big ashphalt track is awesome :)

Hey, about 90% of the guys here are racing in both 2wd and 4wd, så why don't listen to them?
I drive my B4 with a 5.5t brushless and 5 cells (6.0V) and it is fast enough. With a faster motor and higher voltage, you will just end up doing wheelies and spinning out in every corner if you're not gently enough...

Guys...
Could I add weight in the front chassis of the RB5 .. that will prevent the wheelies?
How about 4WD? much easier to drive and not much of wheelies? Thanks

if you want a car for fun, 3.0T in 2WD - go for it
if you are worried about wheelies and stuff, maybe you want more than just fun...
tell us what you want to do and we will tell you know the best electrics combo would be.
simply adding a load of weight up the front might stop it wheelieing, but it will have a negative effect on the way the car would drive (especially if you are looking at enough weight to stop a 3.0T wheelie in 2WD)

Hi There..
:) .. Thanks for the infor ..
First of all .. I will drive this buddy in a big open place ... no track, as I am not into competition ..
I experienced the NOVAK 3.5T in my Xray 2007 .. damnn fast! and that's 4WD ..
But looking at RB5 is 2WD .. if too much wheelie and hard to to drive .. so what is the point the buggy is fast and hard to drive . that's why I was asking whether weight will help ..
However, if Novak 3,5 T into Lazer 4WD is much easier to drive and less wheelie .. still can have the kick and power .. I don't mind to go for Lazer ZX ..
Again, hope to hear from you.. million thanks

a 4WD will be able to deal with insane power better than a 2WD.
so go for a 3.0T, a 4WD and plenty of spare parts

By the way .. I have never drive a 2WD before .. just wondering .. what's the fun part about this 2WD (i.e. RB5) ..since 4WD is more powerful ...
Again, thanks !:)

2wd is the art of driving fast without using throttle..

losi´s brusless system 4.5turns and a lipo 7.4v, almost too much power for a 4wd, and uncontrollable in a 2wd.

Trelleborg - Sweden - is that the same place as 2000 euro's? I raced there! it looks vaguely familar...

thats right Chris, they closed shortly after the euros and 1/10th offraod pretty much died in sweden, but last year i picked up racing again and called to Kai, the race organizer at the euros and he said they just finished rebuilding the track, when i saw the track the week after it was exactly the euros track in perfect condition.. great memories, my first big race.
Now they have extended it as you saw in the vid, and they still have a lot to go. great layout though. :)

excellent!! would love to see pictures from back in the day in 2000...
I remember oh so well being stuck on my lid for 15 seconds watching everyone go past me in leg 3

hehe were you running the xx4 at that euros? i remeber that niel was running the predator.. and jukkas driving, one of the few, if not the only one that pulled a wheelie in 4wd on the end of the straight. teemu hitting the time keeping "bridge" in 2wd. i´ll see what pictures i can get hold of :)

xx4 in 4WD and xxx in 2WD. Yukka was SO fast in 4WD it was untrue, but compare that to todays speeds and that would be nothing
that was my first ever Euros, such a great experience...
we seem to have gone off-topic a little, but I think the guy should have his answer from previous posts

just a bit ot :), on that video, the car is absolutely straight from the box. i was a bit sceptical against kyosho, thougt it would be "sluggish" thanks to the chassie and i had done 2laps with the car prior too filming that vid.. the car was brand new and we put the electrics in "on track".
but it was supprisingly fast, realy fast in changeing direction and pretty stable rear.. easy to drive.. even when driving at 130% :)
