Hello,
A fee weeks ago, probbably more like a month, I've noticed a noticeable uprise in Kyosho vintage buggies and parts selling on ebay.
There has been a lot of Optimas, Javelins, Mids, etc.. at prices and conditions that are very inviting.
My questions are; Is Kyosho going to re-release those buggies and I havent heard of it? Or is it just a blooming sale caused by Kyoshos 50th annyversary?
What is your opinion?
I do hope Kyosho made a Optima or Javelin re-release... I just imagine myself holding in my hands a brand new Optima box, open it and get that first sniff of new plastic smell and stare at it... Priceless!!!!:wub

I haven't heard anything..... But when I was at RCX in California I asked Kyosho the question and the rep told me they wouldn't rerelease the old cars just do tributes to them with new cars like the Ultima RB6 etc

I'd love a rerelease on these for sure but I read somewhere that Kyosho got rid of the molds for the vintage models. Tamiya still kept the original molds that is why they were able to release some of their old school stuff.
I did notice a bunch of Optima Mids and Javelins come up previously. It's good because it sort of drives the prices down. But, if you are only missing certain key pieces, some of those can be pricey on ebay. Some sellers charge $6.95 shipping for an itsy bitsy piece of plastic. Insane. Speaking of which, I just misplaced the tiny driver doll post that I got on ebay and I can't seem to find it...argh!

Yeah, I try to avoid and buy things separately. I sometimes preffer just to buy a whole roller and get what I need from it, maybe sell the rest.
I honestly would hate to see prices on collectibles drop, like it happened with others; Tamiya, AE and Yokomo, but in the other hand one can be that selfish.
I remember seeing Avantes and Bruisers go for $2k, it is insane, but it also adds to the mistique of it, now is just like cornflakes cereals. That would also happen to Optima's and Javs, they would loose that uniqueness if they get re-re.

I would say no. The reason is that when I got interested in vintage Optima cars the last quarter of 2011 it was a peak too. A lot of cars to choose from. There will always be trends on the market.
