I'd be looking at Cat SX, Tamiya 511, B44. Durango is still too new for me, but does look awesome.

Otherwise I'd sit on the fence until the new outdoor season

AMB RC.

I got sent a link from RaceChat in the week, replied to it and forward it to Jules resulting in first refusal. It's cost a fair amount so there was a lengthy debate this morning. 3 heats today with dedicated 2WD and 4WD. Had a good day with some old faces back. (Phill Moggy running a B44 give him a bit and he'll be on Steve's tail)

I had a text from the guy selling saying Jules has gone for it. Wicked!!

Downer is I'm not racing till the 7th due to wedding venue hunting :(

Gives me time to source an AMB PT though :)

There was a mini there last week I think (old one) don't know whos it is. My Leon Cupra grounds out if you head down the left side of the track.

AMBrc system

5 PTs. Downside is people need to source their own.

Heard MRTs are cheap.

Quite a few of the new people havwe their own PTs

I read that all MRT's are cloned from AMB transponders so can have number clashes although they do have a system to switch to one of 20 other pre-set numbers if there is a clash.

Does anyone know anything about this and is it a problem?

Very occasional clashes with the MRTs, but just switch to another number and all is fine. Full instructions come with them, not an issue.

Great to hear AMB is on it's way, even more reason for me to come over to take a look too.

Hi,

You ran the madrat didn't you? Sorry I didn't come down and see you, but an observation from marshalling your race you need to wind the slipper out a bit, it should make it easier to drive.. Just not too much otherwise you'll cook something like I did in my Cat :(

Once I sorted that out it was all good and a fantastic final run.

How many people here have a PT?

Think 2010 will be the rear TORCH gets on the map :)

Cheers,

Mike

Hi All,
I have been talking to mickeyscott about your club, I used to be a member of TORCH back in the day. I live in London and race at EPR when i can, but had no idea that Titchfield was still going and that its growing again too. This has spurred me on to want to come and race with the old crew, although i'm not sure if any of them are still there. My age group is the same as Dan Brown, and his brother Steven. I first raced at Titchfield community centre in 1988 and then at Catisfield village hall then on to the garden centre at segensworth where i stopped racing in 1999/2000. That little club was a great bunch of people who just wanted to race and have fun, even if it started raining. I hope that the club is still thriving and that the winter doesn't dwindle the numbers too much. I would really love to come down and race one morning, my folks still live in Locks Heath so i can drop off the kids there and come and have some fun.
I have a X-6 with a 9t brushless motor, with LiPo. I gather you have a AMB timing system so i will try and get a transponder too.
Hope to see you all soon.
Cheers

Captain-Codpiece-The-2nd
20-10-2009, 07:58 PM
I only run there once in a blue moon when I am down south, but I also run an X6. I have a 6.5 brushless, with 78/23 and it seems to be ok. Only real difference I make when I race there is lighter oil in shocks. Tyre wise I run staggered ribs up front and schumacher yellow mini spikes on the rear. What weight are running yours at?

Depends the time of year. Summer I run blue mini spikes on the rear and yellow stagger ribs on the front. That's on a XXCR

As for winter, well that's a learning curve at the mo. Greens are great, but were out mega quick

I'll be running the Cat SX through the winter anyway and letting the XXCR go into hibernation

Hey guys, just got into rc a few months ago and stumbled accross their website purely by accident after a long hard search of tracks in the area. Turns out, it's on my friend's family's land and is an easy 5 minute cycle for me to get there! (I live in waltham chase) Trouble is I only have an rc18t ft and i my parents make me go to church which is at the same time. :(

At EPR i run yellow mini spikes front and rear, Front shocks are 35wt oil with Brown springs and rears are 25wt with silver springs, with about 25mm ride height.

Yes it's still the same rostrum.

Generally 2 heats and occasionally 3. So 5 mins between rounds I reckon.

What capacity are your LIPOs?

Randall34
23-10-2009, 01:57 PM
I have one pack @ 4000mAh and 2 @ 5200mAh.
They can be charged at 2C, but my charger just goes to 5 amps.
If you only have 2 or 3 heats, does that mean 2wd and 4wd race together?
What is the average turn out, and do you do work to the venue (like strimming, sweeping and other maintenance after racing, like sunday afternoon work parties)?
And does the race control run from a gennie or do you have 240v hook up?
Also (sorry for the barrage of questions) do you have race number stickers, and do i need a pit table or can i pit from the boot of my car?
Think thats it.
Neil

Hi,

You'll be fine with those.

I ran my Cat SX all day last week with 3 heats per round and about 5 rounds. I used a Speed Passion 5300 for the whole morning. Obviously charging between heats except before the final run when I wanted to see if I could do two heats.

With my XXCR I use Trakpower 3600s and I can do two runs with them.

What is the average turn out, and do you do work to the venue (like strimming, sweeping and other maintenance after racing, like sunday afternoon work parties)?

Average turnout 15 people. I'd like to see more work parties and it may be something for next year. Bear in mind this club has only just got an AMB system

Race Control is run for a generator.

Pit table, all down to preference there. Some pit from their car others bring a table, others use the rough tables at the track

Not keen on every other week to be honest. Problem is you could end up missing a month or two if the weather is bad on the race weekends. People don't have to come every week, i like having the option though and we don't need many turning up to break even

I do think we should keep it weekly, going two weeks without racing would drive me nuts..........:woot:

TORCH is a top club, really glad to be a part of it.

If the weather is bad tomoro it will be a long day..................:bored:

With the new amb system and people getting the mrt pt's, true lap times being shown will make the racing closer.

Hopefully the numbers will pick up so we can always split the 2 and 4wd's as two weeks ago the racing was top dollar.

Lets hope the track doesn't dry out too much as last week was brill....:p

Hi,

There will still be a number of 2WD runners. I'll bring my XXCR along anyway, but I think a number of us move to 4WD when the summer season comes to a close.

Overall I reckon the 2WD numbers will still be greater than the 4WD

Should be delivered this week, but if it isn't I'll just use the AMB PT from the Losi.

Weather isn't looking good all week, so I'm not holding my breath for Sunday.

Julian is testing it at the moment and hopefully this weekend will be the first weekend we'll use it. So pending how well it goes I can see us using it the following week.

For those that are regulars at the club, if you have a PT can you message me the number so I can try and get it added to the timing software. Just trying the software out on my laptop to try and assist Julian. Lighten the load etc.

the weather again does not look good :(

http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/11

but it still might change, if it is only going to be showers there is a chance we can still get some racing done. ;)

I have new body shells on the way to use through the winter and will have various top quality sticker sheets to do designs from.

So if people are getting new shells for the winter I will be offering a painting and stickering service at very reasonable prices for people who race at TORCH.

They will be a minimum or three colours and will have a racing look to the design.

You supply the body shell and I will do the rest.

Yellow mini pins work a treat as people who were there two weeks ago will have seen my Tamiya win all but one race............yes a Tamiya! :p

Yes you are right Mike, it was only cos Steve wasn't there but it does show how good a Tamiya can be when set up correctly. :)

Saturday does look like it will be the better day weather wise but if as it says just showers on the Sunday, it just might be worth taking the chance and getting up and goind to the track and racing inbetween the showers.

I suppose we all will have to wait and see on the day.;)

Fingers crossed..

Not sure as I haven't heard from Julian. I'll be fitting my PT anyway and I think whatever happens the loops need to laid, protected and then tested.

Well done people for a good days racing all be it pretty cold and yucky.

Can ALL people who are racing at Titchfield please PM what crystals they use and if you are using 2.4GHz the make etc.

Also for those that haven't PM'd me and have Personal Transponders can you PM me the numbers please as I am getting the driver database populated.

Also the names of the cars you run? I think I have most cars, but I am sure I have missed some.

Tell me about it, I never ran the B4 in muddy conditions, so don't know how sealed it is. With the amount of much today the XXCR is definately going into hibernation until Spring.

The Cat SX inside held up very well.
