Looks good, but i'm wondering how would it be possible to run a Shorty Pack instead of Saddles?
I watched the Instruction Manual and there isn't mentioned to run Shorty Lipos....?

Is there a slim front wheel available for low profile cut staggers, also is there any way of fitting rear pin/front bearing wheels?

What are the front tires on the car in post #3 they don't look like cut staggers or normal staggers
or should I go to specsavers

They are Proline tyres which are the control tyres at the EOS series.

Running old wheels should be no issue - on the rear you'd need the cone spacer and pin from the SV/SX series and on the front, you'd need the SV/SV2 steering block and axle. I think! I need to do this later, so I'll post back here if there is anything specific that you need to do.
Shit! There's just so much going on with 1:10 OR cars these days! Hard to keep up! :D
Hi
I have converted my SV2 to the hex system and the front parts taken off were steering hubs, wheel bearings, stub axels plus the four 3mm dome head cap screws.

Just a thought about the KF's versatility on other surfaces.............
Batteries are normally heavier than motors, plus with the extra drive train mechanics, there is a good chance that this car could be as effective as the SV2 on medium-medium low grip surfaces, because the battery and motor are the other way round wouldn't there be more weight on the rear??? Or am I over simplifying it?

Personally I reckon Schumacher have hit the nail on the head with this layout. And like you say, good rear weight bias should help on lower grip tracks ... plus you have a contra rotating gearbox for even better rear traction ... add to that a body that won't frighten young children and a horizontally split gearbox :woot: gotta be winner

What is the difference with the shocks in front or on the rearside of the shocktower in driving?
rcpower
27-11-2013, 01:36 PM
With the shocks in the front it should pivot a little better... I use the shocks in the rear on very bumpy tracks. This will put more weight between the shocks and should work a little better under these circumstances.
What is the difference with the shocks in front or on the rearside of the shocktower in driving?

Thank you very much Martin :)
So on a flat indoor carpet track like the one in Oss it is best to place them in front of the shocktower?

Hello, I'm looking forward to buy the kf, my problem is my local track is made of dirt and low grip, after a short love story whith a x cubed, that handle the track like a "sausage" in comparaison whith my b4.2, i'm looking for a change, well I know the kr would be the car, but nothing to write home about.
However I really like the kf and belt transmission, I wonder if whith a ball diff, alloy rear trans, shorty packs, the car would work in low grip conditions?
Any pieces of advice.
Thanks a lot.

In the same boat as you wolvie. Even though Im impressed with the design Im hesitating buying it for lack of reports on medium grip tracks. "It went well" is not much to go on :) Regarding your idea using a shorty, I suspect that would remove weight from the rear. However, if you could stuff a shorty all the way back, would there then be enough room to have the esc infront of it? Anyone? Would probably have to mod the battery strap mounts but could any kf owner eyeball that idea for me?

Great car all depends how you drive
If you crash every lap you might break a hub or yoke but you only would in any other car. I've found no problems with mine nothing at all
It's the easiest to drive 2wd car I've had seriously

Kurtje, that's one cool looking track.
You could also try running short wheelbase and/or the 1 degree rear hubs that will then give 4 degrees of rear toe in, a ball diff may also help. Tom Cockerill has posted a set up on PetitRC for low grip conditions, perhaps some of this set up could help and give you some pointers. You can find it here;
http://www.petitrc.com/setup/schumacher/setupcougarkf/KF_TomCockerill_RHR201312/

The weight does help and also folowing Tom Cockerill's set up for RHR on petitrc is spot on for rear grip. The Core RC black rear springs, short wheel base and moving the shocks to the rear with the alloy "gearbox top pieces" made plenty of grip with BB greens on very wet astro

ok so Im currently torn between an SV2 and the KF
I simply love the way the KF looks, am I reading it right that people are getting it to work on what they class as low grip tracks? ie with ball diff and setup changes?

Go for it Tony you can alway get a SV2 or K1 Aero at a later date, be interested to see the KF in your hands, off road is so much more fun than large scale every was, take it from me Ken would not go back there either.

ok well I guess thats decided it then LOL
I had been looking at 2nd hand hopped up SV2's, yokomos and losi, the idea being that as they were on average at least 140 quid cheaper, that money would buy me motor and ESC at least.
but I just know that I would be sat looking at any KF's I saw and wishing...
I cant wait to get out on the track, was watching the racing last weekend and thumbs were twitching LOL.
I miss the days of largescale but not the huge bills and the travelling that I did, I was looking for regular fun cheapish racing and looks like I have found it

haha my poor wife, I came home from Mendip and she looked at me funny, then said, oh damn you smiling, I know what that means LOL, I had a chat and promised I would do things on the cheap, find a 2nd hand car £100-£150 etc etc
so last night I gently dropped in that I wanted a different one, £260 plus probably another £40 for the ball diff, hmmm she says thats £300!!! damn she can do her maths, why did I have to marry a clever one
I do really hate Ebay though, just as I think Im sure about something I see an SV2 cheap, or something else and I start to wonder......
going to leave the car kit till last, maybe once the B5 and B5m comes out, the prices for the KF might come down a bit to compete??
got heaps of other things to buy anyway, good thing is that I got a potential buyer for one of my guns, that will let me go have a spending spree for the weekend :)

It is a lovely piece of kit.
I'm travelling down to Weston Super Mare next weekend for a Rally a friend from Newton Abbot is taking part in. How far is Mendips RC track from Brean and is there any action taking place there that weekend?
I know how hard it is with deciding on all these big boys toys as I saw a Beretta 692 the other week and although I have a 682 Gold E I want one .

If you are down for the Rally at Brean on the weekend of the 25th unfortuantly there is no racing at Mendip and yes its only about 10mins from where the rally is.

That's not good news  what a shame.
I used to live in Torquay and have family in that area so when we come down later in the year I would like to race at the Torbay club in Barton Torquay.
What days do they normally run there?

Ran my KF in anger for the first time on Sunday, turn in is brilliant. Raising the hubs, lengthening the front links and flipping the wishbones is a good place to start, it's incredibly twitchy with the kit setup.

Adding 4mm of spacing between the radius arms and the centre track rod, and the same 4mm under the hub carrier ball joint, is supposed to calm the steering a little.

I'm looking to get a KF but have a bunch of shorty packs I have allotted for my current 2wd; I see that the KF has a shorty "option".
What's that all about?

Kit-spec is for saddles, you need the optional conversion kit to use shorties.

you get a different belt and another tensioner allowing you to put the shorty under the belt i believe.

Perfect, thanks guys!
I recently bought the shorty lipo conversion pack but have yet to fit it.
What can I expect it to do to change the handling?

What tyres and set up? It doesn't sound like under steer but rear traction issue or oversteer. Ball diff, high inertia side gears, rear shocks mounted on the rear of the wishbones and the rear shocks all the way in on top mounting all help with rear traction on wet astro.
it sounds like a diff setting, are you just going in a straight line applying the throttle and the rear comes round.
the diff is driving both wheels and not allowing any difference in rotation between either of the rear wheels because it is acting like a solid axle due to the drag of the oil on the gears.
Use thinner oil or remove two of the gears is a solution also having a ball diff for low grip is an option, check out the Schumacher set up section for the KF in damp conditions where a ball diff was the option.

cheers for the advice. Its running stock kit set up, with 12500 diff oil in it. Its got ballistic greens mini spikes rear and d boots block pass fronts. Essentially when i was going around a corner if i used too much throttle, the back end would spin out.
Ill lower the diff oil to 10,000 and move the shocks to the rear. Hopefully that should run abit better
Just a question, ive had alook at the schumacher set up sheets and says your need the alloy top blocks for the rear in order to mount the suspension at the back? I assume because it doesnt have any holes on the normal ones. Anyone got any picks?

Hi Max,
The thinner the oil in the diff the better, I tried 1300 but was a bit thin, I've now gone with 3000 and it's good. Come and see us on Thursday as some of at the club are running the standard top block but have made spacers so they can move the shocks to the rear, although I have the alloy mount
There are also a few other things to do, 350 oil in the rear shocks and drill the pistons to 1.65mm, rear ball studs add 3mm overall shim.
As I say come and see me, James, stu etc and well help you out.
Cheers,
Duncan

Ran the KF for the first time at Silverstone on Saturday. What a car, very very nice. Just a shame I wasn't very good, but to all at Schumacher
I ran 15k at Silverstone, but will drop that to prob 10000 and get another gear diff. Although I seem to have a few... 2 x in K1 10/7k, 2 x ball diffs spare.
I'm also interested to just run the car with a ball diff and see how that feels.
Looking forward to trying it at TORCH and other tracks in the future.
Will post some pictures at some point.
Hi all.
I've not raced in many years but with my oldest now 9 he wants to try. My last car was a x6 but I am really liking the look of this new kf. My question is how does the car go on a grass track.
Thanks
Matt
