I recently ordered some FF01/TA02 spares from the ebay user wild_boy2012.

I had a lengthy phone call with him tonight and he is a passionate collector of old Tamiyas, as well as an engineer who is able to cast most basic parts out of metal.

He has loads of parts for Tamiya touring cars and minis and is more that happy to deal outside of ebay. If you need any parts then send me a pm and can give you his email address.

As you are all aware, I've been having "issues" with my ff01 gearbox which I've bodged together as spare cases are as rare as rocking horse poo. He was happy to sell me a good used one for £6.50! Should arrive tomorrow so the Shamcar will fight again:woot:

Good tip! For the TL01 sometimes the only option is to order from Asia where the parts seem to still be plentiful...

I did specifically ask him about TL01 parts. His response was "i've got plenty of them" so you shouldn't have any trouble. He doesn't have much in the way of F1 parts but plenty of touring/moster tuck/holiday buggy bits.

Casting bits out of metal? Any details as to what metal exactly?

Can't wait to see how your new lead rims and tin wishbones go!

In the not too distant future we'll simply be able to scan our vintage RC cars and print parts when needed from the comfort of our own homes. :)

Not sure of metal type. He is a model engineer so suspect it is either steel/aluminium. I did ask if he could do a metal gearbox for the Shamcar but too complex a shape. wishbones/shock towers etc are possible though.

Lead wheels? didn't we once have somebody race with them?

Did he really say cast? I would have thought it was way easier to machine things if he's doing low volume stuff....

PS: I never tried lead wheels on the Bandit, I tried pretty much lead everything else!

I've gone a bit Tamiya-mad lately and have bought a load of Tamiya stuff from the bay of evil - Mostly parts for FF01/TA/TL/01/02/Manta ray such as wishbones, gears, diffs, drive shafts, shocks etc.

Most of it I will be using to return various cars to running condition but some of it I will be able to sell. I will be putting a "for sale" ad in the trade section when it has all arrived but if anybody needs anything please let me know.

I've used most of the extra stuff making this for my son:

I know I have some more spares at home somewhere though... Just need to find them :)

Lotus deflectors? Perhaps I'll get some more of those HPI wings I like so much and mount them like this:

If it was an attempt an an insult, it went straight over my head.

Those wings will do a grand job at deflecting an F1/Manta Ray that tries to drive over you.

The F1s tend to drive under you :) The Mardave Minis have non-countersunk screws, I'm sure there's a good change that they would cause some lexan damage during an undertake ;)
