Time to set the way-back machine Herman!

The year was 1988 and the venue was Mansfield.
One leg A's back then - managed a 5th if I recall correctly.

Gained my F1 licence during the first year they were bought in - can't remember rightly but it must of been about 1990/91. Back then, you had to make 2 A or B finals in the season to get the top grade.

Age back then - now that would be telling but 2010 will see me eligible for the vets under the current rulings:p

You must have had that all written down in a diary or something, cause there's no way you could have remembered it at your age. :p

Nearly Phil but not quite!

I have to have a good memory to be able to recall the times when I used to be quite fast - that's all:thumbsup:

Remember - the older you get, the better you were!

1st National A: Tiverton, 2wd. 2003. Qualified 4th, finished 2nd. Aged 16.

Gained F1 in 2001 I believe... aged 14, think I finished 28th in 2wd to gain it.

Youngest ever national A finalist was Craig Drescher and I THINK he was aged 10, could have been 9... I wasn't racing then, have just heard the story.

It was with a TRAXXAS????????:woot: Didnt do very well in the finals but the year after I won every leg and I got called rotten for it. Horses for courses, they called it. Has anyone else won at there home track? Let me think! Did they get called it. NO.

Gained my F1 back in '99, and barring a year break due to none racing I've had it ever since. Not sure ont he year of my first national A, but I remember it was at Aylesbury in 2WD running a borrowed XXX KE. Can't even remember where I qualified or finished (how bad is that).

My sad bastard racing memory is kicking in here... you were using a XXX with a stars and stripes shell... Glyn Stuart's was it? and you qualified 4th... just in front of Richard Taylor who won his 1st national that day from 5th on the grid. Don't know where you came, think the year was 2000.

Made F1 in 2001 and made my first national A at Kidderminster in 2003 at the age of 27 qualified 9th and finished 6th, I was 2nd in the first leg until i realised Neil had crashed in front of me and i had Tricky and Chris behind me, then i crashed on the next corner ended up 4th in that leg.

My 2nd A final at Bury St Edmunds is my best days racing, After 2 rounds i had my name read out as TQing the meeting:thumbsup:

First National A was at Tiverton (Rd1) in 1998 making me 15 at the time, Qualified 6th after battling with the legend that was Jamie Booth all day - This was with a Losi XX Kinwald edition.

I made my F1 in 1997 during my first year of Nat's.

Highlight of that year for me was setting TQ in Rd1 at Springfield at the 2nd national that year, the track was Ellis' home track and a bit hard work from what i remember, a strange bombhole with a really dodgy exit/jump.

Funny how you can remember things if you think hard enough!

Duh, Craig you have made the indoor British champs finals A's, and can be classed as a national A, including a pole here and there from you.

I would have said a National A was one of the rounds of the outdoor National series, not meetings run to National rules

Like a few others on here, I was a late bloomer in off-road...
Made my first National A in 12th in '98 at Chesterfield but in off-road my first A final was Bury St Edmunds in 2002 (or maybe 2003), qualifying 4th and finishing 3rd with a XXX. (I even TQ'd the final round - I was WELL chuffed).
That was at the fine age of 27. Got F1 for the first time in 2000 - and then promptly lost it again the next year as I was driving a Fireblade (oh the shame...)

I am unsure what its like now, but the indoor finals was basically a national, just on carpet or indoor flooring.

You must remember as all the F1s turned up (team Kyosho, Team Yokomo, Traxxas, Schumacher etc etc) and pretty much won the events all the time, so I kindof would count it.

Craig made pretty much all of the A's with exception of the first event held in Ellesmere port so I reckon thats quite a few for him.

That was my first too. to be fair it was also my first ever national! Qualified 2nd in 2wd, finished 2nd too. My equal best ever national result was my first ever one.....:(

Think I was 15 or 16 depending on when it was in the year.
