In short if you want every upgrade that the 2.0 offers it's cheaper to buy a new kit than buy all the parts you need.

To build a 22 1.5 you need F/R arms, hubs, spindles, and steering rack. None of the front end parts will work with each other (old and new) you have to replace all of them to use the new geometry and rack.
The diff is a vast improvement over the old one so if that has worn out it's worth getting the new parts. Driveshafts are not a big difference but it's nice to have the option to alter them - narrow or wide but it's only 1mm change. Slipper clutch I guess depends how much trouble you had with the old one, again it's better but some people have already fitted the Avid Triad which works well.

There is a list somewhere on the web from Losi themselves listing every part required, I think it's on RCtech or some such, a web search should find it but it's a long and expensive list.

I have a 2.0 and a buddy of mine had the 1.0. Difference in driving beheaviour is quite noticable (the 2.0 being much more predictable mid corner). Now he has made a 1.5 by mounting the front hubs, spindles, front arms and steering rack and it drives pretty much like a 2.0 now. I think those are the major things to replace setup wise. The rest is more reliability/bling stuff

You missed the bleeder shock caps.

I am half way through converting mine. for the shock and geometry changes. And am 100% regretting not just buying the kit.

The only thing that's different in terms of geometry and make a real difference to handling is the spindle/ castor block and steering rack. All pick up points on the wishbones are the same except the rear has 3 holes instead of 2 for shock mount which is a new inner hole.

If you have these parts you can achieve the same setup as someone with a 2.0.

my 1.0 has been used weekly almost since the first release of the kit, i was not going waste money on converting new parts to a heavily used car

I learned the hard way that if you use the new X-orings you must have the new machined spacers or they will suck in air and cause loads of rebound. Otherwise I think you'll do fine with just the new front end and steeringrack.

I was under the impression that they were slightly longer, to move the pivot points further into the wheels. But having just bought the new ones they appear to be the exact same geometry, at least to my untrained eye. There is are however 3 shock mounting points.

Front arm are very close. Shock position is moved 1mm forward so the steering link dont touch the springs when using ackerman shim. No big deal.

Do the 22 2mm trailing spindles fit the 2.0 castor blocks?
as I can only seem to find alloy ones for the 2.0

Can anyone confirm whether the 22 2.0 using the LRC rear toe block is the same as running the 22 with the HRC toe block?

I've noticed that the rear of the 22 2.0 chassis is rasied up compared to the 22 and that the anti squat shim kit in the 22 2.0 has a different part number to the anti squat shims for both LRC and HRC on the original 22.

If someone could measure the thickness of the 22 2.0 1 degree and 2 degree anti squart shims I'd be gratfeul.


I know the new chassis will also raise the gearbox.


Everyone keeps raving about the new spindles, front hubs and steering rack so am wondering if the 22 2.0 front hubs and spindles give a similar effect to using the hop-up 4mm trailing arms on the 22.
