Well I decided to get rid of one of my precious Gold Javelins to make space and fund this new venture; "The Green Monster", the green anodized Javelin.
Plans are to build and entirely aluminum roll cage and anodized it in green. The Green Monster will have aftermarket green shocks, probabbly those green shocks with piggybacks that look really cool :cool:
I also purchased two Le Mans 480T green motors, one used one new. The new one is the newer one piece can with a darker label and the older one is the three piece that everyone loves. I am inclined to use the older, used one(three piece) because it looks cooler, but I was planning on making a dark green anodize on the roll cage and the newer motor matches better, so time will tell.
For now I only have the motors, shocks will be bought later(have to check sizes/lenght) and will start soon with the aluminum roll cage, IF I do have the time.

Part of Green Monster's wish list:
Green CNC wheels. I do have to ask: Do those wheels for Axial use a special shaft adapter? She shaft hole seems pretty large, some enlightment would be appreciated.

Update;
Today before leaving the shop I rolled up my sleeves and took a time to begin on the aluminum cage for the Green Monster. I managed to finish the rear cage and about 40% of the front cage part is done. I have to say, welding 3/16"dia aluminum rods is like operating the brain; one wrong move and the sh*#@ hits the fan!

Here are some pics of what is done:
PS: The Green Monster will have a louvered panel with integrated wing mounts, that's the reason why the rear cage does not show them.
Another note; this roll cage is going to be weightless, the difference between the aluminum and stainless will be very noticeable.

Update!!!
Wheels were ordered and waiting on them and the main roll cage is done!!:thumbsup:
I also made a louvered panel with integrated wing mounts.
Next in line will be the side guards which I will be making them exactly as the originals, not like the Option House style done before.
Once all the aluminum fabrication is done everything will get the green anodizing bath. The chassis will be kept in it's stock natural color, no green anodize in order to achieve a two tone silver/green theme.
I am also thinking in the idea of anodizing the shocks as well, can't find the propper shock lenght in those cool looking shocks I talked before.

Enough talk, here are some pics;

I am only going to make two of these aluminum roll cages, too much trouble making them. This buggy is going to be auctioned on ebay as it sits on the picture if anyone is interested.

I've bought a second Optima which I would like to "Javenelise" and anodise or paint/coat all the metal parts so I may be interested in one of your cages

Thanks Gayo,

Here is the link for the auction:

Some might concider the price too steep, but it was the determined value after taking into account all the materials/parts bought to make it happen and the vast hours of workmanship involved. Also, for now and maybe ever, I am only going to make two; one for a collector's home and one for me :D So it's an exclusive item ;)

I made a small and simple anodizing station on the shop where the Green Monster was anodized... I never imagined anodizing was so darn delicate.
Faulty contacts, grease residue, anode to cathode distance, dye temperature, dye tank electrolysis, acid concentration, acid bath time, etc, etc, they all contribute to a susccesful anodizing or a fail. Now I know why people who anodize charge what the charge you. Anodizing might seem pricey to some but sure is not, now I know. And I dont even want to talk about the electric bill which my guess will come heavier than usual next month :thumbdown:

:thumbsup:Suhweeeet! Beauuuuutiful green color. Nicely done. Are those 2.0 wheels?

Nice touch on the racing mesh. I wonder which genius inspired you on that one?:D

Btw, why did you drop the Green Hornet moniker? I was really looking forward to having you do a Kato mask on the driver doll. ;)

Hello Alan,
Thanks! I drop the Hornet name since I did not want to call my Javelin after another buggy name, although a Figurine with Kato mask would've look funny lol.
The wheels are 2.2 standard 12mm hex, the shaft holes are bigger if I ever decide to run the Green Monster I would need to get a spacer first to mount them propperly. I am also planning on cutting the front wheels (narrow them)on the second set I bought for Green Monster #2. If for some reason the buggy on ebay dosent sell I would keep the already done Green Monster and ditch the Green Monster #2 project and switch it to project "The Blue Thunder" the blue anodized Javelin. It would feature a full carbon fiber chassis with black anodized ladder bars & skid plate. The wheels, shocks and roll cage would be blue anodized. Motor would be a Le Mans 480S that I already have.
The only problem is that I already bought the other green wheels set and shocks for Green Monster #2, might have to re-anodize them in blue. I also have two Le Mas 480T green motors, one currently installed on the Green Monster #1
The netting idea is yours!!!! Great advise, they look killer!!!

Well the Green Monster sold in ebay... I was kind of hoping it did not :-|
Now plans are to finish my second aluminum roll cage and anodize it in green to finish my own Green Monster Javelin buggy.

My next project is a blue build; "The Blue Thunder". It will possibly be a combined blue roll cage, possibly aluminum also (with a big maybe) with a full carbon fiber chassis or anodized black chassis, will see.
I already have the Le Mans 480S blue motor, blue B4 shocks so need to buy blue wheels with the corresponding tires.

After the Blue Thunder is done I already have plans and started mocking some drawings and taking measurements in my free time to make a roll cage for my Optima Mid, sort of a Javelinization process. So far it looks very promissing.

In between those two projects there is also a Full black Javelin project in mind, with absolutely all black components or at least everything that could be, let's see.
