Get downloading metallicas new album now..it is mental. For those of you in the mid 30 age bracket you can reminise of great days of 'undercut' hair and headbanging in hammersmith in the late 80s and 90s.
Looking back at the photos now i can see why the ladies didnt always dig the look!!

That rocks....Old school sound too!! If i can get day off work will be going to slayer on 30 oct...last time mosh pit led to serious bruises....Funny that it did not hurt in my teens. Perhaps more stella next time....and why have my old slashed jeans and t shirts got 'pinchy'...must be the wardrobe shrinking device..or the aforementioned stella

I'm a bit deaf in one ear, that's actually true - like I've been to doctors & stuff.

It's Metallica's fault.

I think Metallica lost their way a long time ago, St Anger was just a noise, and Death Magnetic sounds like a jam sesion that someone happened to record, just has no direction to it:thumbdown:

I think half the problem was when Jason Newstead left, that new bass player sucks ass:cry:

Still only a couple of weeks to go, and the new Trivium cd will be out, at least that will sound like good Metallica;)

Yeah Ash, but Nirvana (as ace as they are/were) were Grunge, and not necessaraly 'Heavy metal Rock'.
They're in a different class technically, but both at the top of each.

Nirvana are still VERY good even though they're no longer together (alive or not) you can still listen to their tracks, and they still beat any grunge band that are around now....and will for a long time to come.

I feel this will be the same with Metallica when/if they ever break up.

AD/DC have been going longer admittedly, but when it comes to it, Metallica kick their ass. I feel that AC/DC have had their time, and they were good when it mattered. But overall I think Metallica are better.

But saying that, you can't beat a good bit of 'back in black' or 'thunderstruck'!!

I agree Death Magnetic isnt the best thing they have done, nor was ST Anger for that matter, But Metalica set the standards high previous to the Garage Ink area making the newer stuff sound not soo good. But it would be classed high for anyother bands! LOL

Robert Trujillo is cool, but Newstead was ace!

My fave song still has to be Wiplash from Kill Em All

St Anger was a terrible Studio album under Bob Rock, Just made an Easy packet at the time.

Death magnetic seems to be back on track and running strong. New single seems to be a revamped "One" track but its a Grower.

AC/DC are still going and their new single runaway train is good to.

BUT Metallica are the daddies

RIP Cliff Burton.

As for grunge... Nirvana? They would have been nothing w/o The Melvin's & Dale Crover, literally. Nobody would take Kurt serious, Buzzo lent him his drummer (Dale). I stood proudly next to Krist Novoselic (all 7 ft. of him) at numerous shows.

I personally helped boo Kurt off the stage when he had the nerve to show up to a gig w/ so much heroin in him he did not even know what a guitar was. Olympia, Evergreen State College... before the mainstream grabbed a hold of them and trumpeted that loser as the "face of grunge".

Grunge was born w/ Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground, then taken to full realization by The Melvins.

NO ONE changed music forever like My Bloody Valentine, IMO:D

Indie? Dinosaur, Sebadoh, Sonic Youth, The The, Pixies, Smiths... ugh, I am sorry about the tangent. /crawls back under rock

Metallica the kings of rock? Pooh and tish!
They're much like hundreds of other bands of that genre,
and light years behind Led Zeppelin:thumbsup:
and, for that matter, Queens of the Stone Age:thumbsup:
